    Safety Officer - Resettlement

    Description

    • Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Safety Officer - Resettlement to join our growing project team in Ahafo North. 
    • Reporting to the HSE Superintendent the Safety Officer - Resettlement will provide advice to ensure that the Resettlement housing Construction is delivered professionally and safely in line with Company, Client and industry requirements.
    • They will also confirm all HSE initiatives of the Project team are aligned with Company, Client, regulatory and contractual requirements.
    • Although recruited and employed via Lycopodium, the position will act as an Owners representative and take direction from our clint's safety department. 


    The tasks you'll perform

    • Administer and implement HSE policies, plans and procedures to mitigate risks and safely deliver the project.
    • Ensure all dealings with Client, Vendors and other external stakeholders are professional and in line with ethos of the business. 
    • Provide specialist advice in designated areas of expertise.
    • Conduct environmental training and awareness programs to the project and contractor site teams.
    • Educate and promote health and safety (H&S) culture that will mitigate the risk of injury to personnel and damage to plant, equipment, environment, and the heritage aspects of the project.
    • Assist Safety & Environmental officers in accident/incident investigations and reporting.
    • Assist in job safety analysis and coordinate training to improve safety such as excavations, confined space entry, hot works and Hazard identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA).
    • Check on-site contractor personnel for induction and training status. Enforce project PPE requirements and project safety guidelines
    • Facilitate Health and Safety audits, risk assessments, reviews and inspections. 


    The expertise you'll bring

    • Technical Certificate/Tertiary Education Qualification, Degree, or Diploma in appropriate specialist field or equivalent.
    • Must possess a NEBOSH/Mincom Certificate
    • Solid Knowledge of Safety in Construction Management.
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite Package.
    • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar safety role in construction environment involving earthworks, commercial, and/or residential construction
    • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills across different cultures
    • Demonstrate an ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues across all business units.
    • Ability to use MS Excel, MS Word, and other project systems/tools.
    • Solid leadership and people supervision skills
    • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with an Eagle’s eye for details.


    Working Conditions:

    • Site based.
    • Working hours are 6 days a week, 8 hours per day, from Monday to Saturday, 7am to 4pm daily and 5 hours on Saturdays from 7 am to 1pm.
    • The safety supervisor shall spend 95% of their time on the project site to properly check on daily activities on site
