    Software Developer

    Description

    • The Software Developer role supports our goal of ending avoidable blindness around the world by building the capacity of health care professionals to detect, diagnose and treat blinding eye conditions.
    • As an essential member of the Telehealth team within the global program department, the Software Developer is responsible for development, deployment and maintenance of telemedicine application delivered through the Cybersight platform.

    LOCATION

    • This is a global role, remote or assigned to an established Orbis location.

    REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

    • Reporting to the Principal Architect, the Software Developer will join a small in-house development team working on the Cybersight portfolio, including the Cybersight Consult telemedicine application and the Cybersight AI platform.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

    • Develop new features, modify existing features, and fix bugs within the Cybersight application portfolio.
    • Assist with architecture design, software development, testing and deployment of code.
    • Work closely with external vendors and developers.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
    • 4+ years working as a software developer in an enterprise / NGO setting
    • Experience working on Java 7 web applications
    • Experience working on Python applications
    • Working knowledge of technologies such as HTML, CSS, jQuery, Redis, MySQL / PostgreSQL
    • Experience working with mobile responsive SaaS applications
    • Preferred: Experience with Liferay DXP (version 7.1+)
    • Preferred: Experience with FastAPI
    • Preferred: Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, SES, …)
    • Preferred: Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration services (e.g. Kubernetes)
    • Preferred: Healthcare experience

    SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Ability to troubleshoot issues
    • Proactive approach to development and problem solving
    • Comfortable working in an Agile environment and fully remote team
    • Ability to work with or learn new tools, languages and technologies, ex: Eclipse IDE, Jenkins, Jira, Github, VSCode)
    • Good communication skills
    • Be available to work with global team members between 8am-10am EST.
