    Technical Services Engineer - Africa

    About the role

    • We are excited to announce that we are inviting applications for the role of Engineer or Senior Engineer - Technical Blasting.
    • This expat role will be based onsite at the Tabiast Mine, and will operate on a 6weeks on, 3 weeks off, FIFO roster from most locations across the world. 
    • The primary purpose of this role will be to provide advanced blasting engineering, technical support and blasting project management to our customer, The successful candidate work with Orica’s latest innovative blasting engineering technologies and systems, and manage technical blasting related projects which will optimise our customer's mining operations.


    What you will be doing

    • Managing technical blasting projects to deliver value to our customer - Kinross Mining;
    • Working with our customer to prioritise blasting projects whilst utilising our global network of experts to deliver these projects;
    • Designing and optimising blast using Orica's award-winning software and technologies; 
    • Supporting our customer's blasting technical requirements in line with their targets;
    • Managing our customer technical relationships and taking accountability for delivering outstanding blasting results;
    • Continually improving your technical expertise in our products and services.


    What you will bring

    • Degree qualification in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline;
    • Solid technical experience in drill & blast, preferably within varied sites and environments in Open-Cut mining;
    • Solid understanding of mining, including the cost & profit mechanisms of open pit mining;
    • An ability to work autonomously, and with limited direction as well as part of a tightly functioning team;
    • Strong spoken and written English language, and spoken French;
    • Experience in managing environmental conditions including vibration, fume, dust and noise;
    • Commitment to partnering with customers and Orica blast team;
    • A mindset to always looks for better ways to deliver value for company and customer.
