    Backfill Engineer

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Backfill Engineer

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    To implement, monitor and co-ordinate the backfill requirements for the mine in line with the established mine plan.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Establish the necessary Backfill Engineering processes and practices for the redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine, including Operational Readiness
    • Provide unequivocal Backfill Engineering planning data to enable the monthly updates of the rolling quarterly plan to be produced on time.
    • Develop the quarterly Backfill Engineering cost centre budget to achieve the required targets for achieving annual business plans
    • Deliver the work of the Backfill Engineering function within approved budget targets and specified timeframes, costs and related KPIs
    • Demonstrate Safety Leadership and improve the Culture across the Backfill Engineering Section regarding Safety, Health, Environmental and Sustainable Development
    • Rigorously drive implementation of projects and nurture and sustain a culture of Accountability and Continuous Improvement within the Backfill Engineering team
    • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with Internal Stakeholders (Corporate, Group Planning & Technical, sister mines, etc.) and external Stakeholders (Regulatory Agencies and Authorities, Minerals Commission) to establish existing and changing societal and regulatory expectations and requirements

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • BSc. Mining / Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent

    Experience 

    • Three (3) years' operational experience within an underground mining environment of which at least two (2) years is backfill systems based;
    • Demonstrated experience with knowledge of fundamental underground backfill mechanics;
    • Proficient in the use of Mining Software;
    • Proficient in the management and control of underground backfill operations across a range of fill types;
    • Excellent Communication Skills.

      • Can identify and interpret safety risks and resolve emerging issues; and ensuring that appropriate focus and resources are available to achieve safety objectives.

    Maintenance Planner-Process Plant

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Maintenance Planner-Process Plant.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    To be accountable for planning and ensuring that all fixed plants are maintained according to the original equipment manufacturer standards so that it can be handed over in a timely manner, ‘fit for purpose’ to the Mining operations team for safe and efficient use. The role holder will also ensure that, planning function’s immediate goal is to reduce costs, improve reliability and sustain operational improvement initiatives via the implementation and execution of the AGA Asset Management Plan.  

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Ensure safe planning of process plant engineering activities and compliance with classified plant and electrical safety obligations to meet safety targets.
    • Demonstrate safety behaviour consistent with AGAG’s vision and values. 
    • Support and make room for continuous improvement of safety performance.
    • Support the Senior Maintenance Planner to plan for all fixed plants.
    • Prepare and submit updated work program on weekly basis showing actual progress and identify areas of weakness.
    • Maintain and record update of site work progress obtained from Senior Maintenance Planner Process plant. 
    • Ensure spares inventory supports current and future planning requirements.
    • Ensure asset purchases are effectively and efficiently done in through structured system that is consistent with AGA policies.
    • Provide input to due diligence for procuring goods and services to support maintenance plan.
    • Adhere to procurement procedures and processes. 
    • Ensure cost codes are correctly allocated to all engineering activities.
    • Responsible for Maintenance Planning team in terms of work management, capability, and capacity building to support operational activities.
    • Complete the skills matrix and maintain up to date.
    • Identify skill deficiencies and initiate corrective action.
    • Attend key planning meetings on a weekly basis and as required. 
    • Participate in engineering meetings with the Client as required.
    • Maintain meeting records, agreed actions, and follow up to ensure actions are completed. 
    • Provide regular feedback to the Planning Superintendent and Engineering Manager in relation to work progress, and issues impacting on compliance and production.
    • Participate in Underground infrastructure cost and schedule reviews to support accurate and timely reporting.
    • Participate incident investigations and provide feedback regarding the agreed corrective actions.
    • Produce Daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports accurately and timely.
    • Advise maintenance works progress and KPI status to the Senior Maintenance Planner, particularly potential cost, schedule, or quality variances.
    • Identify and address engineering risks, by communicating potential issues to stakeholders in a timely manner. 
    • Inspect maintenance works to validate progress and status. 
    • Participate in formal monthly risk reviews.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • A tertiary qualifications in a relevant (mechanical or electrical) engineering discipline.

    Experience 

    • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as maintenance planner or assistant maintenance planner in mining operations

    Technical Competencies

    • Demonstrated experience knowledge base in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, knowledge of SAP PM Maturity Journey is advantageous.
    • Good understanding of applying wrench time to capacity planning and scheduling principles and a working knowledge of MS Project.
    • Demonstrate ability to inspect and confirm repair specifications for rotable spares.
    • Process Plant operations and maintenance practices. 
    • Familiar with HSE management systems. 
    • Ability to work within a team environment 
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 
    • Audit, compliance, and governance. 
    • Ability to present to operational team.

    Expediting Officer

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as a Expediting Officer.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The Role holder will ensure that the expediting function is carried out to support and achieve the operational and strategic objectives of the Obuasi Redevelopment Project – Phase 3.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
    • Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
    • Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
    • Comply with AGAG Environmental Management, compliance and other legal requirements.
    • Take action to prevent environmental pollution.
    • Correct, or report to their supervisor, any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions as well make suggestions to improve any aspect of environmental management.
    • Follow the established procedures if incident occur by reporting to the Supervisor.
    • Ensure all orders are expedited pro-actively prior to due delivery dates. Liaising with vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods.
    • Liaise with end-users and project team to monitor and expedite priority orders based on criticality approved purchase orders in SAP in response to the winning bids.
    • Liaise with Scheduler to maintain and update the schedule with due delivery dates and highlight changes in delivery dates.
    • Ensure deliveries are made in accordance with contract specifications.
    • Maintain record of written correspondence with suppliers.
    • Liaise with Ports and Harbour Unit (PHU) on daily shipment tracking reports.
    • Ensure that export/import documentation is correct to avoid clearance delays and generate shipping tracking documents.
    • Update critical expediting register with shipment information and tracking.
    • Hold weekly meetings with Suppliers and freight forwarders to track deliveries, load planning and shipment schedules.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Minimum of HND /Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement & Supply, Economics, Commerce or Supply Chain management will be an advantage.

    Experience 

    • At least Three (3) years’ experience working in a supply chain environment.

    Technical Competencies

    • Familiarity with SAP ERP system or equivalent ERP application
    • Sound knowledge and ability to work with Microsoft suite
    • Proficient understanding of materials and services procurement

    • Responsible for issuing request for quotations and proposals to qualified vendors based on purchase requisitions assigned, answering queries, bid evaluation, negotiations.
    • Ensure all bidding lists are properly approved by supervisor before issuing to the market.
    • Execute the RFQ process in line with approved procedures to complete the PR-PO cycle.
    • Perform tender adjudication, employing the use of only approved bid evaluation templates
    • Establish and maintain good but professional and ethical working relationships with vendors and internal user departments of the mine, providing the necessary support and communicating procurement policies, standards and procedures as appropriate.
    • Resolve all vendor complaints and escalate all disputes to supervisor.
    • Support AGAG’s supplier development and local procurement policies and strategies.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Minimum of HND /Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement & Supply, Economics, Commerce or Supply Chain management will be an advantage.
