    Mechanical Supervisor - Pastefill

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    • The Mechanical Supervisor - Pastefill will report to Engineering Superintendent – Pastefill & Material Handling and is accountable for safe and effective Paste Fill operation and equipment maintenance at Paste fill plant through the application of operational engineering policies, AGAG standards, systems, and procedures to maximise plant availability in line with production within sustainable cost-effective manner and minimise operational risk.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work according to AGAG management principles in terms of Engineering Standards
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan and Safety (ensure zero injury and incident free)
    • Monitor general physical condition of Paste Fill Plant equipment and report.
    • Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary.
    • Provide on the job support to the Engineering Superintendent, where appropriate.
    • Participate in maintenance programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis on equipment as require.
    • Identify, communicate, implement potential cost reduction initiatives, and propose cast saving projects
    • Supervise teammates and be flexible in working cross other levels and sections
    • Execute work in time; coordinate refurbishment work contractors time plan, escalate real /potential delays.
    • Monitor equipment performance and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
    • Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used.
    • Report directly to the Engineering Superintendent on issues identify and execute improvement projects

     
    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Must possess a minimum of Mechanical Technician part III or equivalent

    Experience 

    • Good mechanical background with good leadership skills and a minimum of two (2) years working experience in Process Plant
    • Experience in maintaining Piston pumps, Centrifugal pumps, Vacuum pumps, and pneumatic valves
    • Abreast with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulation

     
    Technical Competencies

    • Strong mechanical maintenance competencies in mining and/or extractive metallurgy environment
    • Sound project management skills
    • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems.
    • Commercially astute and able to work effectively with third parties.
    • Legally astute with respect to project delivery and maintenance systems
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel
    • Must be able to communicate about technical issues both orally and in writing

    Mechanical Technician - Pastefill

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    • The Electrical Technician – Pastefill is accountable for all electrical maintenance at the Paste fill Plant and Electrical infrastructure in the area such as substation, low and medium voltage installation a safe and compliant manner as instructed during maintenance and shift duties.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Accept personal responsibility for his/her own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by his work
    • Work compliantly with the requirement of government of Ghana Agencies, environmental, health and safety legislation and AGAG regulation
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan
    • Comply and follow the operating procedures and environmental rules for the performance of assigned job
    • Must correct, or report to supervisor any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions as well as make suggestions to improve any aspect of environmental management
    • Must correct, or report to the Electrical Supervisor, any observed environmental deviations, practices and conditions as well make suggestions to improve any aspect of environmental management.
    • Interface with Contractors as directed and/or Construction teams regarding electrical work tasks for refurbishment works and planned works that support the overall work plan, schedule and expectations.
    • Attend training, development and performance improvement training as required
    • Execute electrical refurbishment and maintenance work items as tasked - compliant and in accordance with all relevant regulations from Government of Ghana and AGAG
    • Execute daily pre-start checks of equipment/tools prior to leaving workshop. Escalate and report any anomalies
    • Assess all equipment required for completion of the tasked work, create checklist and transport all tools necessary for task completion
    • Recognize any machine, equipment or crane operation anomalies that would indicate requirements for maintenance, report and escalate.
    • Provide data and information to support the Maintenance Planner to close out work orders in SAP on completion of the tasked work for all process plant and equipment refurbishment and maintenance activities.
    • Execute work in a timely manner
    • Carry out work cost effectively
    • Operate all equipment within the safe working environment.
    • Stop equipment operation if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Minimum of Electrical Engineering Technician Certificate Part II or equivalent
    • Certificate of successful completion of respected electrical trade apprenticeship

    Experience 

    • Three (3) years of experience as an electrical technician
    • Knowledge in Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulation
    • Knowledge in troubleshooting faults in electrical systems
    • Knowledge in electrical wiring and ability to read electrical diagrams
    • Experience in Maintenance/operating Machinery and Fixed Plants

    Winder Instrumentation Technician

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    • The Winder Instrumentation Technician reports to the Winder & Shaft CIC Supervisor and is accountable for all maintenances, installations, and repairs on winders, safewind and safe recorders system, conveyance radio units, carryout weekly, monthly, annual, and statutory critical task and ensure planned maintenances are executed in compliance with Government of Ghana laws and AGA standards, safety, and environmental requirement.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan
    • Gather information for the Winder Instrumentation Supervisor for reporting performance
    • Conduct periodic audits of all winder instrumentation, communications and control refurbishment, later maintenance
    • Conduct reviews of the refurbishment, later maintenance, of the winder CIC equipment to identify actions for continuous improvement
    • Assist the Winder Instrumentation Supervisor to develop condition monitoring routes and checks for correct functioning equipment;
    • Execute refurbishment, later maintenance, work checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, infrared data collection, ultrasonic data collection, motor current and flux data collection, simple NDT data collection, verification of output within calibration and specification;
    • Analyze and trend predictive maintenance data (vibration, IR, etc.) to determine plant condition and report this condition for action;
    • Monitor general physical condition of winder CIC assets and report
    • Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary;
    • Execute repair work, where appropriate, on winder instrumentation, communication and control equipment
    • Generate work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment/maintenance, repair planning and scheduling
    • Ensure routine condition monitoring tasks are performed on all the rotating equipment by data collection using advanced portable data collectors and other tools according to the established schedules and also as per the plant requirements.
    • Gather information on vibration & other data collected in order to diagnose / troubleshoot rotating machinery problems.
    • Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis process of winder CIC equipment as per requirements.
    • Identify, communicate, and implement potential cost reduction initiatives
    • Propose cost savings projects
    • Execute work in a timely manner; coordinate refurbishment work contractors to time plan, escalate real or potential delays
    • Monitor equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
    • Report directly to the Winder Instrumentation Supervisor on issues and identify and execute improvement projects
    • Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used

    Head of Operation

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    • The Head of Operations role is to lead the Operations Team (Geology, Mine Technical Services, Mining, Processing and Engineering) of the Obuasi Mine, in building capacity and capability, systems and processes to deliver the production and cost objectives of the approved budget.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Establish the necessary foundation in the Operations Division for the Obuasi Mine
    • Implement the operational elements of the approved project for the operations functions.
    • Consistent with the approved project, evaluate and recommend the strategy and long-term business options of the Obuasi Mine, set department context for Operations Manager and Department Heads and manage risks to delivering the strategy.
    • Review and recommend the annual budget for the operating functions
    • Manage the delivery of the approved operational budget by identifying and addressing priority performance variances.
    • Resource and develop the people within the Operations Division to consistently deliver the annual budget, Life of Mine (LoM) plan and strategy according to their role and level of authority
    • Expedite the development and delivery of a capable and competent Senior Operational Management team and in particular, a successor to this role within 3 years.
    • Nurture and sustain a site culture of Accountability and Continuous Improvement
    • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with Internal (Excom, Corporate, Group Planning & Technical, Project Director, International Operations, CAR etc.) and External (Government and Regulatory) Stakeholders.

     
    QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

    Qualification

    • A bachelor’s degree that has been awarded by a recognized tertiary institution: mining, engineering, geology, or in a related field.
    • Post graduate qualifications and/or development training in management and finance
    • A Mine Manager Certificate of Competence issued under the Ghana Minerals and Mining Regulations 2012 (L12182), or the required qualifications and experience to enable the successful application for the certificate.

     
    Experience

    • Minimum of twenty-five (25+) years’ experience of which ten (10+) years should be at General Management level.
    • General Management experience in hard rock Underground mining operations.
    • African or emerging country experience well regarded.
    • Demonstrated substantial knowledge and experience in Operational Leadership and effectiveness, stakeholder management with regulatory authorities and risk management disciplines within the mining or heavy manufacturing sectors and large-scale transformation
