    Engineering Supervisor – Dewatering

    • AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.
    • We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Engineering Supervisor – Dewatering.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    • The Engineering Supervisor – Dewatering is accountable for the monitoring and control of maintenance and operations of the Underground Dewatering pumps after refurbishment in the transition to operations, through the application of operational policies, standards, processes and procedures to maximise plant availability in a sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    ROLE VACANCIES

    • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan
    • Gather information for the Dewatering Superintendent – Underground for reporting performance
    • Conduct periodic audits of all Dewatering equipment/pumps in Underground infrastructure
    • Conduct reviews of the Dewatering refurbishment, later maintenance, of the Underground infrastructures to identify actions for continuous improvement and that operability to requirements is ensured
    • Organise information for the Dewatering Superintendent – Underground to allow development of condition monitoring routes and checks for infrastructure equipment;
    • Utilize the SAP asset maintenance management system in maintenance activities.
    • Execute regular controls on maintenance and operations work quality, according to standards, timeliness and AGAG compliance.
    • Execute refurbishment, later maintenance, work checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, vibration data collection, infrared data collection, ultrasonic data collection, motor current and flux data collection, simple NDT data collection;
    • Analyse and trend predictive maintenance data (vibration, IR, etc) to determine plant condition and report this condition for action;
    • Monitor general physical condition of plant assets and report
    • Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary;
    • Generate work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment/ maintenance planning and scheduling
    • Ensure routine condition monitoring tasks are performed on all the rotating equipment by data collection using advanced portable data collectors and other tools according to the established schedules and also as per the plant requirements.
    • Gather information on vibration & other data collected and escalate in order to permit diagnosis / troubleshooting rotating machinery problems.
    • Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis process of Dewatering equipment, when required.
    • Prepare and manage the actual Mine Dewatering operations during the Phase1 & 2 Operations.
    • Complete the skills matrix and maintain up-to-date
    • Identify skill deficiencies and initiate corrective action
    • Identify, communicate, and escalate potential cost reduction initiatives
    • Propose cost savings projects
    • Execute work in a timely manner; coordinate refurbishment/maintenance work and contractors to time plan, escalate real or potential delays
    • Log monitored equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to register and escalate symptoms of potential failure.
    • Report directly to the Superintendent on issues and identify and execute improvement projects
    • Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Water Management, Hydraulics Engineering or Maintenance Management, or equivalent
    • Supervisor training certificate

    Experience 

    • An experienced Dewatering operations Supervisor with over 5 years’ experience in, preferably, Underground operations/maintenance
    • Knowledge of SAP PM module

    Legal Requirement

    • Professional Certificated Supervisor with a relevant certification body

    Technical Competencies

    • Strong Dewatering operations/maintenance competencies in mining  environment
    • Sound project management skills
    • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems.
    • Commercially astute and able to work effectively with third parties.
    • Legally astute with respect to project delivery and maintenance systems

    Mine Planning Engineer

    Purpose of the Mine Planning Engineer role is to give confidence in the Mining Plan by reviewing and interrogating existing data from the Quarterly process and produce realistic designs that enable plans and schedules to be produced at the required standard for short-term planning and production systems.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Establish the necessary Mine Planning processes and practices for the redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine, including Operational Readiness
    • Define mine planning activities and schedules for tracking of mining Ops Readiness tasks
    • Generate a 9-month mine schedule with respect to geotechnically re-sequenced stopes to include diamond drilling activities
    • Develop the mine planning MOS to integrate the general MTS workflow
    • Consolidate and generate ‘a one source of truth’ reporting system
    • Design mine instruction templates (layouts) and approval process
    • Provide unequivocal mine planning data to enable the quarterly updates of the rolling 18-month plan to be produced on time.
    • Prepare production engineering data aligned to defined quality assurance expectations
    • Timely assessments of Production Engineering processes data
    • Conclusions with accurate information and analysis
    • Work programme risk assessments conducted prior to implementation
    • Develop the annual Mine Planning cost centre budget to achieve the required targets for achieving quarterly and annual business plans

    • Deliver the work of the Mine Planning function within approved budget targets and specified timeframes, costs and related KPIs
    • Implement approved work programmes and reports on the attainment of plan

    • Workplace monitoring and compliance with work standards of field personnel and contractors
    • Rigorously drive implementation of projects and nurture and sustain a culture of Accountability and Continuous Improvement within Mine Planning team
    • Quarterly Reports which identify areas where Production Engineering may contribute an increase in enhanced methods which will bring improved efficiencies
    • Optimise procedures within existing functional processes through the application of problem identification and resolution methodologies
    • Conduct trend analyses on functional performance to identify and recommend ways of optimising resources for work cycle execution and pre-empting potential process and procedure variance through the establishment of
    • Statistical controls (alert system),
    • Improved work practices, procedures and processes
    • Improved team knowledge and skills

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE 

    Qualification 

    • BSc Mining / Engineering Degree or equivalent;

    Experience

    • A minimum 3 years of relevant mine planning experience in underground mining environment

    Technical Competencies 

    • Experience in Mine Planning functional Management;
    • Demonstrate knowledge in the mining operations value chain
    • Commercial acumen relevant to the role
    • Safety (basic Application): Can identify and interpret safety risks and resolve emerging issues;
    • MTS Processes & Practices

    Winder Electrical Supervisor

    The Winder Electrical Supervisor is accountable for the monitoring and control of output of Electrical refurbishment of Winding Equipment (Lead and supervise Technicians to carry out maintenance on Winders, Winder House lighting , Signals and shaft Bank Areas) within the Underground infrastructures to standard, the transition to operations, through the application of operational policies, standards, processes and procedures to maximise plant availability in a sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    • Experience in management of Maintenance and Repair Contracts (MARC)
    • Knowledge of SAP PM module

    Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor – Process Plant

    • The Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor – Process Plant reports to the Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent and is accountable for executing tasked plant electrical and instrumentation installation and maintenance work items. This position will support technicians to execute work tasks falling in day shift and night shift callouts, in a safe and compliant manner as instructed refurbishment, later maintenance, of the Process Plant.
    • The work is to be executed in accordance with detailed tasking in accordance with applicable Government of Ghana and AGAG safety and environmental requirements.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work compliantly with the requirement of Government of Ghana Agencies, environmental, health & safety legislation and AGAG regulation.
    • Accept personal responsibility for his/her own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by his work
    • Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis process of Dewatering equipment, when required.
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan.
    • Interface with Contractors as directed and/or Construction teams regarding electrical and instrumentation tasks for refurbishment works and planned works that support the overall work plan, schedule and expectations.
    • Attend training, development and performance improvement training as required.
    • Supervise the execution of electrical, instrumentation and automation refurbishment and maintenance work items as tasked – compliant and in accordance with all relevant regulations from Government of Ghana and AGAG
    • Assist the E&I Superintendent – Processing Plant to develop condition monitoring routes and checks for processing plant electrical and instrumentation equipment.
    • Maintain fixed plant assets in the Process Plant. This involves maintaining all electrical and instrumentation systems relating to Crushers, Conveyor Systems, Pumps, Ball and SAG Mill, Vibrating Screens & Feeders, Cranes & Hoists, Cyclones and Tanks. PM inspections, disconnect/reconnection of motors, programming of VSD’s, PLC’s, maintaining the integrity of the operating environment of all electrical and instrumentation equipment.
    • Assist the Engineering Technical team to implement energy management initiatives or projects. Liaise with Electrical and Instrumentation Specialists regarding future installations and supply capabilities.
    • Assist with shutdown co-ordination and execution on the Electrical and Instrumentation aspect.
    • Refer to schematic drawings and relate these to fault find issues with electrical and instrumentation equipment. Update drawings and give feedback to respective Engineering Technical Team.
    • Monitor general physical condition of plant assets and report.
    • Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary.
    • Generate work requests in SAP as required for new build/ maintenance planning and scheduling.
    • Carry out work cost effectively.
    • Identify, communicate, and implement potential cost reduction initiatives

    • Actively participate in maintenance review programs and Root Cause Failure Analysis process of Electrical and Instrumentation equipment as per requirements.
    • Monitor equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
    • Report directly to the E&I Superintendent on issues and identify and execute improvement projects.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Minimum of BSc. Electrical & Electronic Engineering
    • Certification in PLC, SCADA and Automation systems

    Experience 

    • An experienced Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance Supervisor with 7+ years’ experience in, preferably, process industry
    • Knowledge of SAP PM module
    • Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulation.

    Legal Requirements

    • Member of a recognized Professional Engineering Body
    • Must possess Supervisors Certificate of Competency from Mineral Commission of Ghana

    Technical Competencies

    • Strong knowledge in PLC/SCADA system troubleshooting, preferably Rockwell Automation’s Contrologix, Logix Designer and Schneider’s Unity Pro XL and Wonderware
    • Advanced knowledge in Variable Speed Drive programming and troubleshooting.
    • Previous experience on Industrial Electrical and Automation projects and maintenance will be an added advantage.
    • Financial, commercial and project management through work experience and courses
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems.
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel
