    Control Room Lead.

    AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Control Room Lead.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The purpose of this role is to monitor the processing plant operations through electronic representation shown on monitors as well as make changes to variables in consultation with other field personnel and departments to ensure smooth running of processes according to established procedures.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Monitor plant operations to ensure safe and smooth running of the entire processing plant circuit.
    • Monitor plant operations to ensure process streams deliver on set points / targets
    • Report anomalies/deviations to the Sectional Lead and Operations Lead
    • Promote AGA Health, Safety and Environmental actions for optimum performance.
    • Take appropriate action in case of irregularities or emergencies in consultation with relevant stakeholders including plant operators, supervisors, managers etc.
    • Maintain records of plant operations and development performance including performance of machinery.
    • Manage emergency procedures. The control room lead is to react quickly in case of emergency and set emergency procedures in motion.
    • Monitor all fire alarms within the process plant
    • Ensure that the control room remain secure at all times and that no unauthorized person enter the control room
    • Ensure the surveillance monitors are observed at all times
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualification

    • A Tertiary qualification in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, Materials or Chemical engineering or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.
    • Ability to demonstrate understanding of metallurgical processes as well as engineering concepts and practices to be able to effectively coordinate the processes

    Experience

    • 5 years’ experience in a process plant preferably 2-3 years as Control Room/Shift Supervisor/ Metallurgist role

    Technical Competencies

    • Demonstrate knowledge of metallurgical processes.
    • Monitoring of plant performance and efficiency.
    • Must be alert at all times to be able to communicate quickly with relevant stakeholders and take appropriate actions in case of deviations and emergencies.

    Engineering Supervisor - Shaft Maintenance

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Engineering Supervisor - Shaft Maintenance.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The Engineering Supervisor – Shaft Maintenance is accountable for coordinating the work, training, monitoring and control of quality, of cage operators and shaft maintenance technicians to ensure the operation is at all times fully compliant with LI2182, safe, and compliant with operational and Engineering policies, standards, systems and procedures to maximise plant availability in a compliant, safe, sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Application of HSE regulations with zero tolerance to breaches.
    • Demonstrate Safety behaviour consistent with AGAG’s vision and values.
    • Lead by example to create a safe working environment, where risks are assessed and managed so tasks are performed without risk of injury or harm.
    • Ensure monitoring and data collection to demonstrate execution of the Shaft maintenance in Statutory Inspections of Shafts, Transporting and Slinging of Materials and all Other shaft related Jobs in accordance/compliance LI2182, accordance with the Government of Ghana conditions of approvals and the site’s Environmental Management Plan
    • Review, approval and sign off of the shaft maintenance team items detailed in the Refurbishment Execution Plan and schedule, infrastructure detailed design requirements, detailed testing plans, operational commissioning plans, handover plans, training plans, manuals, records, drawings, specifications and documents issued. 
    • Deliver shaft maintenance items consistent with the legal compliance required in the refurbishment plan and commencement of operations stages
    • Comply with reporting processes for managing shaft maintenance that meet cost, schedule and quality expectations consistent with the scope and quality contained in the Feasibility Study within area of accountability.
    • Monitor and ensure the shaft maintenance and refurbishment work is of a standard that is compliant, supports the operational requirements of the equipment and is at optimum cost
    • Identify sub-standard work practices, identify root cause and eliminate by corrective action.
    • Develop and maintain the shaft maintenance portion of the Shaft Engineering Management Plan, as a key Project Execution Plan sub plan for the area of accountability

    Qualification

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering, or equivalent
    • HND or MET III or equivalent 
    • MET II

    Experience

    • An experienced Shaft Maintenance Supervisor with 5+ years’ experience in Shaft maintenance.
    • Must be knowledgeable and conversant with Provisions of LI2182 in relation to shaft work & Maintenance

    Legal Requirements

    • Must possess minimum of Inspecting Engineers Certificate of Competency from Minerals Commission of Ghana
    • Understand and know the use of Shaft log Book & its Importance
    • Professional Certificated Specialist with a relevant certification body

    Technical Competencies

    • Strong Winder and Shaft Operations competencies in underground mining
    • Excellent knowledge of requirements of LI2182
    • Sound project management skills
    • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems.
    • Commercially astute and able to work effectively with third parties.
    • Legally astute with respect to project delivery and maintenance systems
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel
    • Must be able to communicate about technical issues both orally and in writing 
    • Demonstrated understanding of good Engineering practices and the implementation of proactive maintenance strategies

    Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) Supervisor

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) Supervisor.

     

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The purpose of this role is to maintain and improve the operations at the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) to safeguard the physical and chemical stability of the TSF throughout the life of the mine and subsequent land use of the facility to ensure sustainable future of human life and the environment.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Actively promote AGA Safety, Health and Environmental actions for optimum performance.
    • Comply with AGA TSF framework
    • Maintain Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) key performance indicators (KPI’s) including freeboard, pool distances and pool depth and adherence to the standard operating procedure (SOP) at the TSF.
    • Inspect tailings delivery lines and provide feedback to the relevant stakeholders such as the operations team, environmental department and plant control room.
    • Supervise daily operations of TSF contractors.
    • Plan and coordinate fumigation activities at the TSF operational areas against reptiles.
    • Partake in actively-driven housekeeping and loss control.
    • Maintain discipline and performance management among the members of the TSF crew.
    • Investigate all appropriate equipment related safety and environmental status and take prompt and appropriate corrective action
    • Control and reduce operational and engineering costs
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Water and Tailings Specialist

    Qualification

    • A tertiary qualification in Civil, Geotechnical or Hydrogeological Engineering or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution
    • Certificate of competence from Minerals Commission will be an advantage

    Experience

    • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role.
    • For candidates without the stated tertiary qualification, an extensive experience of not less than 7 years in a similar role may be considered

    Technical Competencies

    • Investigating and understanding the impact of geological formations beneath the ground surface of the existing as well as any future construction project at the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF).
    • Analyze the Tailings Storage Facility to determine their present and future stability, seepage and hydraulic separation etc.
    • Liaise with the environmental department on environmental restoration related projects.
    • Deal with Geological hazards such as landslides, soil erosion, flooding and in some extreme conditions, earthquakes and be able to set emergency response procedures in motion.

    Winder Engine Driver

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Winder Engine Driver.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The Winder Engine Driver is accountable for operating hoists and cage winders compliant with LI2182, safely, in accordance with other compliance requirements, operational and standards, systems and procedures to maximise plant availability in a compliant, safe, sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
    • Operate / Drive Winder (Man & Rock) in Compliance with LI2182 (Adansi - 3, GCS-3, BSVS-3, KMS-3, KRS-3)
    • Conduct periodic audits of all Winding equipment in area of operation and report 
    • Identify actions for continuous improvement and that operability to requirements is ensured
    • Organize information for the Senior Winder Driver to allow development of condition monitoring routes and checks for infrastructure equipment;
    • Execute daily work checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, motor current and flux data collection 
    • Report any anomalies to Senior Winder Driver for the generation of work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment/ maintenance planning and scheduling
    • Carry out daily pre-start and/or shift handover checks and complete check sheets as required according to the established schedules and also per plant requirements.
    • Complete shift short interval control sheets as required
    • Monitor operating parameters on the integrated control system and take corrective action as indicated or required
    • Log monitored equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to register and escalate symptoms of potential failure to Senior Winder Driver
    • Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used and report to Senior Winder Driver

    Qualification

    • Secondary Education

    Experience

    • An experienced Winder Driver with 5+ years’ experience in underground mining

    Legal Requirement

    • Winder Engine Driver's certificate of competency issued by the Chief Inspector of Mines in accordance with LI2182

    Technical Competencies

    • Strong Winder Operations competencies in underground mining
    • Excellent knowledge of requirements of LI2182
    • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems
    • Must be able to communicate about technical issues both orally and in writing
