    Fire Tender Driver

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Fire Tender Driver.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The Fire Tender Driver is required to respond to emergency situations by operating the Company’s Fire Tender, Emergency Rescue Van and the Ambulance.

    The Fire Tender Driver would also be required in assisting the emergency team in discharging their duties creditably in the areas of firefighting, rescue operations and Ambulance services especially on surface.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Assist in responding to all emergency operations on surface.
    • Safely drive the Fire Tender and all Emergency vehicles in response to all emergency situations.
    • Safely drive Emergency Vehicles to and from fires or other emergencies following laws and regulations, operating pumps, aerial devices, power and other mechanical equipment as required, keep inventory of tools and equipment on apparatus.
    • Assist in conducting planned inspections and audits on all firefighting and fire detection appliances on both surface and underground. The inspections shall cover portable fire extinguishers, automatic fire suppression systems, Hose reels, smoke detectors, and fire alarms or sirens.
    • Participate in all training sessions and emergency drills.
    • Clean and service assigned apparatus, maintaining it in a condition of readiness, report mechanical failures or difficulties and missing or damaged equipment to the proper authority.
    • Attend to the Control Room.
    • Assist in cleaning and keeping the Rescue Station tidy.
    • Assist in organizing basic firefighting training and emergency drills for employees.
    • Perform required apparatus maintenance, cleaning duties, inventory checks and weekly inspections. Additionally, after every emergency response or training drill, inventories must be checked before leaving the emergency scene or training location.

    Qualification

    • Valid Driver’s License F
    • Must have at least a SSCE /WASSCE or a similar qualification from a recognized institution.
    • Must be Qualified and Competent in administration of First Aid.
    • Physically and medically fit to AGA Standard

    Experience

    • Must have at least 5 years considerable skill in the driving of Fire Tender preferably in a mining environment.
    • Must have an in-depth understanding and working knowledge of mechanical principles in operation of Fire Tender and Ambulance.
    • Must have basic knowledge in the use of first aid kits, and rescue equipment
    • Must have considerable knowledge in the inspections of all firefighting and fire detection    appliances and this include but not limited to portable fire extinguishers, fire Hose Reels, fire hydrants, smoke detectors, fire alarms.
    • Must have experience and ability in spill response and medical emergency response.

    Technical Competencies

    • Must be disciplined.
    • Must be computer literate.

    Legal Requirement

    • Certificate of Competency (Mine Rescue/Fire Certificate) – Ghana Minerals Commission / Recognized Institution or Body

    CIC Supervisor – Surface Mine Infrastructure

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as CIC Supervisor - Surface Mine Infrastructure .

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The CIC Supervisor – Surface Mine Infrastructure is accountable for the monitoring and control of output of the Surface Mine CIC refurbishment team to standard, through the application of operational policies, standards, processes and procedures to maximise plant availability in a sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan
    • Gather information for the Electrical Superintendent – Surface Mine Infrastructure for reporting performance
    • Conduct periodic audits of all Surface Mine HV infrastructure during refurbishment, later maintenance
    • Conduct reviews of the refurbishment, later maintenance, of the Surface Mine CIC Infrastructure to identify actions for continuous improvement
    • Assist the CIC Superintendent – Surface Mine Infrastructure to develop condition monitoring routes and checks for infrastructure equipment;
    • Execute refurbishment, later maintenance, work checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, vibration data collection, infrared data collection, ultrasonic data collection, motor current and flux data collection, simple NDT data collection;
    • Analyse and trend predictive maintenance data (vibration, IR, etc) to determine plant condition and report this condition for action;
    • Monitor general physical condition of CIC assets and report
    • Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary;
    • Generate work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment/maintenance planning and scheduling
    • Ensure routine condition monitoring tasks are performed on all the rotating equipment by data collection using advanced portable data collectors and other tools according to the established schedules and also as per the plant requirements.
    • Gather information on vibration & other data collected in order to diagnose / troubleshoot rotating machinery problems.
    • Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis process of HV Electrical equipment as per requirements.
    • Identify, communicate, and implement potential cost reduction initiatives
    • Propose cost savings projects
    • Execute work in a timely manner; coordinate refurbishment work contractors to time plan, escalate real or potential delays
    • Monitor equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
    • Report directly to the Superintendent on issues and identify and execute improvement projects
    • Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used

    Qualification

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics/Communications Supervision, or equivalent
    • Financial, commercial and project management through work experience and courses

    Experience

    • An experienced Electronics/Instrumentation maintenance supervisor with 5+ years’ experience in, preferably, Mine Infrastructure Maintenance
    • Experience in management of Maintenance and Repair Contracts (MARC)
    • Experience in Project Management
    • Knowledge of SAP PM module

    Legal Requirement

    • Must possess supervisory Managers Certificate of Competency from Mineral Commission of Ghana
    • Professional certificated Supervisor with a relevant certification body

    Technical Competencies

    • Strong Electrical maintenance competencies in mining and/or extractive metallurgy environment
    • Sound project management skills
    • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems
    • Commercially astute and able to work effectively with third parties
    • Legally astute with respect to project delivery and maintenance systems
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel
    • Must be able to communicate about technical issues both orally and in writing
    • Knowledge in AGA standards
    • Knowledge in OEM legalities and mining regulations
    • Demonstrated understanding of good Supervisory practices and the implementation of proactive maintenance strategies

    Tailings Manager – Closure

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Tailings Manager - Closure.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The Tailings Manager will be responsible for effectively managing and controlling the construction, operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of Obuasi Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs). This role will work closely with the TSF design consultants and in-house construction team to ensure that the on-going construction of the TSF meets the design and operational requirements. The role will also work closely with Corporate and Regional Tailings Management and other key stakeholders to develop the Life of Mine tailings strategy.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Achieve the annual safety targets as set by the MD / Operations Manager for area of accountability
    • Demonstrate behaviour that is consistent with the AngloGold Ashanti Safety Vision and Values
    • Ensure that the health and safety management systems (OSHAS 18001) in area of accountability are being complied with and that any deviations in this regard are addressed in the appropriate manner
    • Lead by example always to create a safe work environment in which risk is managed and people are able to perform their jobs without the risk of injury to themselves or others
    • Continuously seek opportunities for learning to improve safety performance. In cooperation with the processing department, ensure the tailings deposition systems are constructed and operated within life of mine (LOM) depositional requirements.
    • Oversee interactive development of Tailing Storage Facilities final design drawings and documentation through to effective communication to the Project team.
    • Oversee that required tailings deposition infrastructure, methods and operations as well as embankment design work is completed on time and in line with LOM operational requirements.
    • Communicate all design related decisions and outcomes to the Corporate and Regional Tailings
    • Understand overall requirements for timing of construction activities to meet operational requirements.
    • Oversee all TSF construction activities.
    • Produce monthly stewardship reports based on interpretation of daily, weekly and monthly monitoring information.
    • Regularly monitor the performance of the TSF, observe and report on effectiveness of maintenance of all TSFs.
    • Verify that operational freeboard, water management and access routes are properly maintained and that required remedial actions are implemented.
    • Manage the TSF risk register which includes identifying risks with operations and stakeholders throughout the mine life cycle, developing corrective actions to mitigate risk and monitor implementation of corrective actions.
    • In co-operation with the environmental department, ensure the development of designs that ensures the safe, stable and self-sustaining closure of dormant Tailings Storage Facilities.
    • Produce monthly stewardship reports based on interpretation of daily, weekly and monthly monitoring information
    • Regularly monitor the performance of the dormant TSFs, observe and report on the effectiveness of maintenance.
    • Verify that freeboard, water management and access routes are properly maintained and that required remedial actions are implemented.
    • Select and appoint competent and passionate people, assign work, monitor performance, train and develop team members while creating a culture of high-performance teams
    • Ensure that Obuasi's assets are maintained in a safe working condition and maintenance is managed cost-effectively.
    • Manage critical spares and stock accounts and ensure that the maintenance system is implemented and maintained.
    • Manage and control the budget.
    • Manage the effective utilization of the Obuasi's expenditure.
    • Control and achieve site specific budgets and manage overtime.
    • Continuously identify opportunities to reduce cost or improve the cost efficiency of the closure plan
    • Review compliance to laws and AGA standards and commitments, review performance against objectives and targets
    • Identify all environmental risks and opportunities and provide and/or oversee the provision of quarterly updates regarding the control measures set out in order to address these.

    Qualification

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
    • Certified Engineer or Registered Professional Engineer.

    Experience

    • Minimum of Ten (10) years geotechnical and tailings experience
    • Minimum of Five (5) years managing or operating TSFs
    • Mastery of the concepts and principles of a specialist field, ability to manage other professionals in this field

    Technical Cpetencies

    • Understand key elements constituting site safety system.
    • Can lead team-based risk assessments and conduct behavioural based observations.
    • Active participant in ensuring critical controls are in place and working.
    • Can actively take part in reviewing of safety system elements such as practices / procedures
