    Control Room Lead

    About The Job

    Role Purpose & Context

    • The purpose of this role is to monitor the processing plant operations through electronic representation shown on monitors as well as make changes to variables in consultation with other field personnel and departments to ensure smooth running of processes according to established procedures.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Actively promote and partake in all Health, Safety and Environmental programs as set out by AGAG Obuasi.
    • Serve as the coordinator for all paste plant emergencies including safety, health, environment, and security as all such communications are directed at the control room for dissemination.
    • Oversee control desk consisting of five HMI computer screens and three CCTV screens.
    • Shall be the custodian of all control room related activities, including all the gadgets.
    • Adhere to plant operational procedures for production goal achievement and handle work safely.
    • Input operational system status with applicable control system tools.
    • Gain awareness of system operating requirements and trends and suggest operating adjustment suggestions.
    • Manage electrical and mechanical equipment and facilities with the competency of a plant operator.
    • Deal with anything that looks out of place as picked up on SCADA or CCTV
    • Reply to production floor requests and machine stoppage alerts and give fore warning on creeping issues to the field team.
    • Oversee productions and process key metrics for operating plant machinery within parameters.
    • Assess machine logs and historical trends and data to support Process Engineer to troubleshoot and metallurgical accounting reports.
    • Handle equipment maintenance and tagout as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Submit internal Work Orders for equipment failures.
    • Comply with all AGAG-Obuasi security protocols especially that governing the process plant and ensure strict adherence of same by direct reports.
    • Accountable for team’s environmental obligations and performances.
    • Investigate all environmental incidents in assigned work areas and prepare reports with recommendations for the Departmental Manager for onward submission to the Environmental Manager or his representative
    • Assist in developing and periodically reviewing of SOPs related to his or her area of accountability.
    • Socialize SOPs and other operational document related to his/her area of responsibility to his/her direct reports.
    • Research into best practices and be updated with new and improved approach to operating gold-room and gravity circuit.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Qualification:

    • A tertiary qualification in engineering /metallurgy or information technology with 2 years’ experience in modern SCADA system.

    Experience :

    • Must be very experienced and have good understanding of all the sections of the operations.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in plant operations.
    • Proven good practical knowledge in process control operations.
    • Plant operational experience or preferably in supervisory role of not less than one year.
    • Minimum of 3 years working experience on a recognized process plant as a control room operator.

    Technical Competencies:

    • Demonstrate knowledge of metallurgical processes.
    • Monitoring of plant performance and efficiency.
    • Must be alert at all times to be able to communicate quickly with relevant stakeholders and take appropriate actions in case of deviations and emergencies.

    Plant Day Supervisor-Goldroom-Gravity-Plant Services

    About The Job

    Role Purpose & Context:

    • The role holder will ensure the final product of the process plant comes out in the form of bullion and assist in the dispatch of same.
    • He/she will liaise with the shift team to ensure the elution schedule is properly followed right from CIL carbon management to electrowinning cycles.
    • The role demands decisiveness, sacrifice, commitment and excellent organizational skills.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Actively promote and partake in all Health, Safety and Environmental programs as set out by AGAG Obuasi.
    • Accountable for his or her own safety and the safety of all employees on the mine including his direct reports and contractors.
    • Closely monitor all PPEs used in reagent handling, goldroom and gravity circuit are available in their right qualities and quantities for use.
    • Enforce all environmental work procedures that have been issued by the Departmental Manager.
    • Accountable for team’s environmental obligations and performances.
    • Conduct formal meetings with team and report any weaknesses in the environmental procedures.
    • Assist in developing and periodic review of SOPs related to his or her area of accountability.
    • Socialize SOPs and other operational document related to his/her area of responsibility to his direct reports.
    • Research into best practices and be updated with new and improved approach to operating gold room and gravity circuit.
    • Be the custodian of all gold room related activities, including electrowinning cells efficiencies, calcine oven smelting furnace management.
    • Liaise with security team to ensure the security of the bullion, concentrates, gold bearing materials and other valuable in the gold room.
    • Ensure the bullion records and other important records are not released to people who are not entitled to them.
    • The incumbent shall ensure relevant stocks are kept for critical consumables in the goldroom, gravity circuit and general plant reagents and raise the alert the department of any likely shortage.
    • With the assistance from department management and shift team develop weekly and monthly ounces production strategies and ensure they are achieved by following through the right elution and gravity performance
    • Liaise with the maintenance team to ensure timely attendance/addressing of any issue that may lead to unavailability of the gold room, elution and gravity circuits and escalate any such concerns.
    • Accountable for the in-plant reagent staging area, organize for the preparation and making available reagents needed for the operation of the plant.
    • The incumbent and his/her direct reports shall attend to plant "bushfires". Assist with all major day activities/task including major housekeeping activities on the plant.
    • The day supervisor shall ensure a healthy work relation between the shift team and day services team to facilitate good information sharing between the two disciplines.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Qualification:

    • BSc/Diploma. Metallurgical, Chemical, or Materials and mechanical Engineering with 2 years process plant experience.
    • Qualification from a secondary school or A-level with 5years process plant supervisory experience could be considered.
    • Basic First Aid Certification will be a plus.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years working experience on a recognized process plant.
    • Minimum of 2 years working experience with cyanide sparging/mixing and storage facility.
    • Mobile equipment operating experience will be a plus.
    • Minimum of 2 years goldroom experience
    • Previous experience with gravity plant operation.
    • Previous knowledge/experience with process plant reagents

    Technical Competencies:

    • Good computer skills
    • Must be able to understand and appreciate the hazards associated with process plant reagent and gold room activities.
    • Good communication skills.

    Leadership Competencies:

    • Self-motivated/driven to achieve targets and improve the status quo.

    Contracts Engineer

    About The Job

    Role Purpose & Context:

    • To implement and improve a commercial framework to translate mine plans and budgets into operational plans in an annual, quarterly, and monthly basis.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
    • Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
    • Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion
    • Investigate all environmental incidents in assigned work areas and prepare reports with recommendations for the Departmental Manager for onward submission to the Environmental Manager or his representative
    • Maintain the required contracts processes and practices for the operation
    • Update the progress against contract plan, including remedial actions to address shortcomings
    • Assist in the compiling of the annual business plans
    • Run optimisation investigations and models to evaluate how processes, efficiencies, price changes and volumes can be improved
    • Liaise with the commercial team to ensure on time financial process implementation and compliance
    • Support to align on contractor claims and payment
    • Report on the development and progress of initiatives and enhancements of the contracts function, to include outputs and befits obtained
    • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with all stakeholders

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    Qualification:

    • BSc Mining or equivalent Engineering degree
    • Blasting Certificate

    Experience:

    • Two (2) years’ experience in a mining or mine planning role
    • High proficiency in Microsoft office suite
    • Knowledge in SAP application software will be an added advantage
    • A valid driver’s license

    Technical Competencies:

    • Knowledge in contract management practices and demonstrate ability in managing operational mining contracts
    • Understand underground mining processes and practices
    • Able to use the knowledge to track and monitor Contractor’s performance and resulting cost
    • Potential to interpret financial management accounting data
