    Senior Manager - Impact and Partnerships

    About The Job

    • M-KOPA Impact, the impact measurement and impact projects team within M-KOPA, is looking for a Senior Manager- Impact and Partnerships with a strong track record in grant-raising and impact measurement to join its growing team.

    Position Summary:
    The role will be two-fold

    • Impact Measurement and Communications: 
      • Owning and leading all impact measurement and storytelling to investors and the wider world and actively working to refine M-KOPA's impact narratives, all the while working to improve credibility and industry alignment of our impact metrics
    • Partnerships: 
      • Leading all grant-raising pursuits from end to end, starting with building leads for grant financing primarily from private foundations and corporates, qualifying those leads, and taking them to contract signature.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Impact Measurement and Communication:
      • Be M-KOPA's impact measurement champion - influencing teams to embed impact goals and measurement across the organization
      • Owning delivery of M-KOPA's impact reporting to investors and the wider ecosystem, including leading M-KOPA's annual impact report
      • Continuously improve and execute an overall strategy for the collection and analysis of impact data, both quantitative and qualitative, from different sources
      • Staying abreast of, and applying, best practices in impact measurement to the role, including saying familiar with industry standards and aligning M-KOPA's practice to these.
      • Working with independent impact measurement providers and with impact project teams to share and disseminate high-quality, data and evidence-based impact narratives.
    • Partnerships:
      • Collaborate with the senior management team to lead and manage a strong pipeline of projects that leverage concessional funding (grants) and M-KOPA's unique capabilities to deepen impact in an existing area (e.g close the gender gap in smartphone ownership) or support new product development (e.g electric mobility financing). 
      • Your key role is leading the grant fundraising process and managing funder relationships.
      • Lead, manage, and develop and strong grant fund opportunities that align with the company's impact pillars/themes
      • Manage the end-to-end fundraising cycle, including writing proposals and working with project teams to define the scope and budget for projects
      • Lead on managing operational relationships with funding partners, developing them to become long-term partners
      • Supporting the project management team with reporting to funding partners (working with other members of staff who will lead on the provision of content).

    Skills and experience required:

    • A minimum of 4 or more years' experience, ideally a mix of impact measurement and business development/grant fundraising experience
    • 1 or more years of industry/sector experience and/or a strong understanding of the African context.
    • Strong proposal/project/sales pipeline management skills.
    • Prior experience working with development organizations and foundations is an advantage.
    • An entrepreneurial nature and strong business acumen with an understanding of social enterprises or private sector development in emerging markets
    • Exceptional communications skills with the ability to create compelling and concise narratives for a range of audiences using Word and PowerPoint
    • Superb problem-solving skills and the ability to see 'the big picture
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment
    • In addition, the candidate will have:
      • Strong relationships with development donors and corporate philanthropists.
      • Passion for the role of mobile technology in development.
      • Comfortable working with remote teams, startups, and/or social enterprises.
      • Understanding of the donor landscape (aid agencies, private foundations, multilateral, etc.) is desirable
    • The impact team at M-KOPA focuses on two areas:
      • Measuring and communicating M-KOPA's impact on customers and the environment and
      • Leveraging partnerships with mission-aligned partners to deepen the impact of our existing products or support new high-impact products and services.

    Senior Analytics Engineer

    About The Job

    • We're looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to work in a matrix organization you will own analytics datasets and pipelines for a specific product domain and work together with your cross-functional partners to improve our understanding of the area.

    Summary:

    • It is a fully remote role #LI-Remote, within the following time zone (UTC -1 / UTC+3).  You will be reporting to the Head of Analytics

    YOU ARE EXCITED ABOUT THIS ROLE BECAUSE YOU WILL:

    • Together with your cross-functional partners you will define key metrics for the product area: how do we measure success?
    • You will build easy to understand and consistently modelled datasets to serve metrics, dashboards and exploratory analysis
    • You will develop semantic models in Looker, build dashboards and coach users on how to use self-serve capabilities of our platform
    • Working together with software engineers you will ensure that the data necessary for analysis is captured well in our systems
    • You will build data transformation pipelines, primarily by using SQL and Python in dbt + Airflow infrastructure
    • Throughout this process you will apply best practices to build reliable, well tested, efficient, documented data assets

    WE ARE EXCITED ABOUT YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE IN:

    • You'll have experience working in the following area dimensional data modelling for analytics / data warehouses / big data infrastructures
    • High proficiency in SQL (any dialect)
    • Experience programming in Python, Java or another language
    • 5+ years experience working with SQL
    • 3+ years working with data warehouses technologies
    • 3+ years experience working with BI tools such as Looker or Tableau
    • 2+ years experience working with a transformation tool such as dbt
    • Experience working with orchestration systems such as airflow
    • Technical degree is plus, but not a must

    Senior Product Manager

    • Have you wanted to create software products for a Fintech doing just that at the scale of millions of Customers? 
    • Here's your chance. You can take on a senior product role at M-KOPA, focus on how to meet our customers' long-term financing needs and create some amazing software products to do so.
    • You will start out reporting to the Group Product Manager for Retention; that said M-KOPA is growing fast and the product you own is likely to change eventually.  This role is fully Remote role, within the following time zone (UTC -1 / UTC+3).

    YOU ARE EXCITED ABOUT THIS ROLE BECAUSE YOU WILL:

    • You will lead Discovery with our Design team to make sure we understand the problem we're solving and you'll improve on the solutions from there based on data gathered from testing hypotheses.
    • You will work with market research teams to understand user needs, define a vision for the product, and advocate for the customer throughout the product lifecycle.
    • You have a bias for looking first in the data for answers and a tendency to monitor data dashboards for insights daily.
    • We're looking for a captivating story teller who can tell stories to our execs and senior leaders within the business.
    • You have a strong sense of UI/UX design principles to help inform good product design choices in collaboration with our Design team.
    • Using agile product process, you will write and move your user stories through refinement to meet our definition of ready.
    • You will collaborate with engineering during the Delivery cycle to manage engineering constraints when they arise, with a bias towards shipping valuable work each sprint, learning, and iteratively improving based on data.
    • You enjoy communicating visually. You are comfortable refining wireframes and process maps to guide Discovery.
    • You lead by example, modeling Product Management best practices for the product team and the business. You are comfortable advocating for process improvements to clear the path for you and others achieve your OKRs
