    Treasury Accountant

    About This Role:

    • To monitor and manage company cash flow, investments, and reclamation bonding.
    • To manage banking relations, provide treasury support for projects and other banking activities.

    Main Responsibility Areas:

    Forecasting and Monitoring

    • Compile weekly, monthly and periodic cash flow forecasts and bank account monitoring and determining the cash needs and the currency needs (GHS or USD), verifying that account balances and investment classifications are in line with corporate treasury standards.
    • Cash needs are sent to the Assistant Controller- centralised services.
    • Report bank and investment balances to Denver Treasury.
    •  Determine intercompany loan repayment based on cash availability and excess funds to be invested.
    • Collate cash needs for various sections like tax, accounts payable and others, in order to make provisions for contingencies and other pending payments.
    • Ascertain cash needs and resolve through cash calls from Citibank, USD sales to local partner banks, by collating the daily forex quotes and selecting the highest bidder within the stipulated time or loan requests from corporate when there is shortage of funds.

    Treasury Related Reconciliations

    • Prepare all Newmont Ghana Gold Limited and Newmont Golden Ridge Limited bank reconciliations and other treasury related reconciliations.
    • Verify that all reconciliation issues are resolved with the partner banks.
    • Review the reconciliations by checking the bank balance, main General Ledger (GL) and sub-Ledger accounts and open items and their classifications.

    Treasury Support

    • Provide treasury support for projects by certifying timely funding of project accounts, Bank statement download and loading in SAP, preparing project bank accounts reconciliations and resolving reconciliation issues, validating bank charges, liaison between EPCM and Partner banks and preparing monthly payment accruals to verify that project costs are properly captured.
    • Support with proper updates in Mineman (bullion software), running valuations to determine ounces balance at month end and reconciling Dore sales and sending appropriate reports to Financial Reporting and performing quarterly and yearly reconciliations between Mineman balances and Valcambi statements.

    Accounting

    • Monitor Gold and Silver sale accounting by determining what should be recognised as revenue and any loss or otherwise to be expensed
    • Guarantee appropriate and timely retention to nominated banks based on investment agreement on shipment by shipment basis and reporting retentions, shipment values and shipments dates to nominated banks on monthly basis by collaborating with shipper to get shipment details for reporting to Banks
    • Assess the retention amount based on Newmont Ghana Gold Limited and Newmont Golden Ridge Limited investment agreements and a cash call is done to send the cash from Citibank to Local nominated banks.

    Correspondence / Communications

    • Act as Newmont’s Correspondent with partner banks on payment issues, bank charges and interest issues, account opening and closure, authorised signatory classification changes, additions and deletions, access to bank platforms, Employee Corporate card issues and sending Instructions to banks.
    • Act as support in the Newmont Reclamation Bonding with Banks.
    • Liaise with partner banks, and Accounts Payable. Follow up on unsuccessful payments with banks and report on monthly’s basis EFTs not cleared and stale checks to Accounts payable, monthly bank charges and interest reviews.

    Statement Management

    • Download weekly and month-end mt940 statements and monthly reclamation cash component statement requests.

    Training & Experience:

    Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

    • Bachelor’s Degree with a major study area of accounting / finance or an equivalent level of experience and professional qualification.

    Additional Knowledge:

    • Knowledgeable about the banking industry.
    • Knowledge of the Central Banks Regulations.

    Experience:

    General Ledger Accountant

    About This Role:

    Process Maintenance Superintendent

    • If the answer is “Yes” then an opportunity exists for you to join our team as a Process Maintenance Superintendent reporting to the Process Manager.

    Shovel & Drill Maintenance Mechanic

    • To conduct mechanical maintenance, deployment, troubleshooting, replacement, repair, and testing of equipment on drills, shovels and support equipment, according to OEM specifications and safety standards to ensure equipment availability and optimal mining operations and production.

    Essential Duties

    Mechanical Maintenance

    • Perform preventive maintenance routines and inspections.
    • Generate a work order before the remedial or repair work is carried out.
    • Raise a job card for work to be carried out, if any problems are identified.
    • Accomplish work objectives by determining own work schedule, coordinate with support services
    • Attend to items on the maintenance planning schedule, as and when required.
    • Perform installations, maintenance and repair activities, in accordance with OEM specifications.
    • Troubleshoot technical and / or operational problems.
    • Perform routine maintenance on all mechanical equipment and ensure effective functioning, including but not limited to maintenance of drills, shovels and support equipment.

    • Disassemble and assemble various major components for repair works.

    • Collect oil samples from mining fleet using best practices to minimize contamination.

    Trouble shooting

    • Carry out inspection on all mechanical equipment daily and record all findings from the inspection.
    • Check all malfunctioned machinery and equipment and conduct root cause analysis to diagnose whether to repair or replace.
    • Analyze specified problems and issues to find the best technical solutions within OEM specifications.

    Reporting

    Shovel & Drill Maintenance Supervisor

    Purpose

    • To supervise and coordinate Shovel and Drill maintenance work to ensure that production plans are realized.
    • To lead and support mechanics, electricians, technicians and operators in the delivery of maintenance work to ensure that specifications are met, and objectives are achieved in an effective and efficient manner.

    Essential Duties

    Mine Maintenance Planning

    • Manage adherence of maintenance to all HSLP, Environment and Social Responsibility requirements under Newmont’s Integrated Management System, Newmont vision and values.
    • Provide information to assist in the preparation of maintenance operating cost forecasts, budgets and monthly maintenance reports.
    • Organize, distribute and coordinate all maintenance works at the mine areas to support all the activities assigned to mine maintenance, including planning.
    • Work with the stores / procurement department to ensure that all the necessary maintenance parts and supplies are available to maintain the mining plant and associated facilities.
    • Assist in the development and review of the maintenance standard task procedures (STPs).

    Mine Maintenance Supervision

    • Oversee Shovel and Drill maintenance work in all mining areas.
    • Provide hands-on assistance during operations activities and ensure that safe work practices are followed.
    • Assist in major work and troubleshooting on the drill rigs and excavators.
    • Conduct shift handover meetings.
    • Provide technical support when major works are carried on any of the plant and / or equipment.
    • Provide effective on-the-job training and coaching to ensure employees gain new skills and achieve their maximum potential.
    • Manage and coordinate daily corrective actions

    Business Analyst – Fixed Assets

    About This Role:

    • This position is to ensure that all capital expenditures (both tangible and intangibles) are accurately tracked and recorded in the accounting system; and also to ensure that all completed projects are transferred to appropriate asset class in the fixed assets register which satisfy both US GAAP and the International Financial Reporting Standards.

    • Liaise with the Supply Chain Management Team to ensure that Insurance Spares are tracked and appropriately accounted for in the fixed assets register per the company’s policy.
    • Coordinate with the Site Finance teams and the AFE managers to ensure that completed projects are capitalised promptly to enable the region benefit from tax relieves associated with such assets.

    Regional Fixed Asset and SAP Support

    • Run the depreciation forecast report on a monthly basis to check the reasonableness of depreciation charges before the fixed assets register module is closed.
    • Reconcile all fixed assets related accounts in the Trial Balance to ensure that they tie with the fixed assets register.
    • Assist the Regional Controller in executing key controls to enable Ghana to be SOX compliant by maintaining adequate evidential information to support such control executions.
    • Furnish the tax department with monthly additions and disposals of assets and assist them in computation of capital allowances.
    • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of Fixed Assets data in SAP.
    • Work closely with the regional subject matter expert to support periodic SAP system testing.
    • Update the accounting system with annual reserves information and ensure that they are aligned with the allocated deferred mine development cost for amortisation.
    • Prepare annual depreciation, depletion and amortization memo for changes in depreciation rates and amortizations.

    Financial Reporting Functions

    • Liaise with the Site Finance teams to conduct an impairment review on half-yearly basis to ensure that carrying amounts in the financial records reflect the state of the assets (both tangible and intangible) at any given period.
    • Coordinate with the Site Finance teams to take physical inventory of all company fixed assets on an annual basis where the value exceeds $10 million and for every three years for all assets.
    • Liaise with internal and external auditors with their review of financial information related to fixed assets.
    • Assist with the preparation of statutory reports to conform to IFRS and US GAAP.
    • Provide planning support in the area of PPMD and Capex.

     

    Major Projects Accounting Support

    • Coordinate with the major projects accountant to ensure that completed assets are loaded into the fixed assets system.
    • Support the fixed assets register set up for the new projects.
    • Provides interim back up to the Project Accounting analyst when needed.

    Training & Experience:

    Formal Qualification (including professional registrations)

    • Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
    • CA, ACCA, or CPA qualification preferred.

    Additional Knowledge

    • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) required.
    • Knowledge of and work experience with Sarbanes Oxley (SOx) regulations a plus.

    Experience

    • Between 5 to 8 years relevant accounting experience required; preferably in the mining industry.

    Technical Skills

    • Excellent knowledge of computerised Global (GL) Systems.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
    • Must have confidence to interact with corporate leaders.
    • Strong leadership and management presentation skills.
    • Strong computer and Excel skills.
