    Qualifications

    Expectations

    • Within one month, you will collaborate with the recruiting & HR teams both in Ghana and globally to onboard into Zipline recruiting processes and set yourself up for success. You'll begin to recruit new team members in Operations in Ghana.
    • Within three months, you will own the entire recruitment process for operations in Ghana. You will collaborate with the training team to ensure all new hires have a spectacular on-boarding experience and are compliant with local labor laws.
    • Within six months, you will hold team-wide training sessions on our recruitment standards and best practices as well as manage the effectiveness of our recruiting process by getting feedback from interviewers, hiring managers, trainers and leads.

    Flight Operator (Ashanti Mampong, Ashanti Region)

    The Zips (our delivery drones) are the core of our business, and Flight Operators play a critical role in keeping everyone at our distribution centers and neighboring communities safe. This role is crucial to us because we are setting up new Distribution Centers, and need some incredible Flight Operators to make sure our drone deliveries are completed seamlessly.

    WITHIN 1 MONTH: You will receive elite Zip training that includes professional courses as well apprenticeship with the rest of the Flight Ops team to learn on the job.

    WITHIN 3 MONTHS: You will become a certified Flight Ops professional - Being able to handle Pre-flight, Post-flight, Launching Zips, and incident response alone, and have a thorough understanding of Zip hardware.

    WITHIN 6 MONTHS: You will have mastered vehicle maintenance, troubleshooting recurring incidents and processes with the Africa-based and California-based teams. You will be responsible to contribute on a daily basis regarding process and vehicle improvements.

    WITHIN 12 MONTHS: You will be looked to as someone to run the Nest, fielding questions from your team and helping onboard new apprentices coming on-board. Zipline is expanding rapidly, and peer-mentors will become a crucial part to scaling up

    Problems you'll work on:

    • Developing an interface for Zipline’s partners to have visibility into the hospitals that are benefiting from Zipline’s services
    • Designing a simple and dependable system for doctors and nurses to order life-saving supplies from Zipline, regardless of their internet connectivity
    • Empowering our operations teams with amazing software tools to track inventory, process orders, prepare aircraft, and monitor flight status

    We’re excited to meet you if you have some or all of the following:

    • 3+ years experience in a software engineering role, 1+ years in a senior role
    • Expertise in Python and JavaScript (bonus points for React and TypeScript)
    • Experience building production web services with consideration for security, scalability, and reliability
    • Experience using application server frameworks (bonus points for Django)
    • Experience rapidly prototyping new product concepts, and excitement to work in an environment where you’ll be learning quickly from your users to define a product

    Data Platform Lead

    We believe in the power of being close to the end user. To better serve operations and our customers on the continent, Zipline’s data team is expanding from California to Ghana, where we’re also building a small team of operations data analysts. This role includes ~1 month/year of international travel to support our team’s global user-base.

    Responsibilities

    • Enable analysts across the company using Zipline’s data dashboarding platform. This includes everything from providing access and onboarding to sharing tips & tricks for communicating data visually.
    • Develop and maintain a roadmap of new features as our user base grows and use cases expand.
    • Support the addition of new data sources on the back-end.

    Strong candidates will have many of these traits

    •   Product vision: a customer-centric mindset and the capacity to ruthlessly prioritize the development of new features
    •  Data engineering: you won’t just be managing a product, but also implementing features, e.g. prototyping a Python-centric ETL of new data sources into the data warehouse to make them available for dashboarding & reporting
    •  Data science: working familiarity with SQL and the Python data science stack, e.g. numpy, pandas, matplotlib
