    Mine Maintenance Serviceman

    About This Role

    • To provide semi-skilled assistance including daily provision of lubes, fuel, grease, and inspection of heavy mining and auxiliary equipment to maintenance high standard equipment health to effective maintenance engineering of mining/auxiliary equipment.

    In This Role You Will

    Perform Maintenance Duties

    • Perform daily servicing of heavy mining and auxiliary equipment using any available service truck on the site.
    • Assist in carrying out oil level checks and oil changes on all mining and support equipment to maintain equipment or vehicle in standard and serviceable condition.
    • Use Forklifts, Telehandlers and other lifting devices to convey oils and lubes safely for dispense to service trucks and for other requirements as may be necessary.
    • Maintain daily/shift service, fuel and lubes records, and provide information and recommendations about equipment health to dispatchers and supervisors.
    • Assist in performing routine checks, daily inspections, pressure/temperature checks and fluid level checks on all production equipment and have direct responsibility for the following:
      • Greasing of all available and required greasing points on all production equipment: bearings and joints, inspect component joints for defects.
      • Provide daily distribution of fuel and lubes to mining equipment per the standard schedule.
      • Collaborate and follow daily inspection and service schedule as directed by the maintenance dispatchers or shift supervisors.
      • Carry out daily inspections and report all defects on the service trucks for repairs and correction.
      • Ensure that service or lube trucks and its nozzles / Wiggins are always clean and in good condition to meet contamination control standards.
      • Raise reservations for lubricants in SAP and ensure their dispense into service trucks.

    Health, Safety and Environment

    • Comply with all Newmont and regulatory agency Health, Safety, Loss Prevention and Environmental procedures, requirements and standards.
    • Operate in a safe manner and take steps to prevent minimal wear and tear and/or damage to equipment.
    • Work without risk or harm to others.
    • Maintain a strong focus of safety throughout all activities.
    • Attend daily morning safety meetings.
    • Observe and adherence to all fatality risk management (FRM) critical controls.
    • Observe all exclusion zones in the pits as required by geotechnical team.

    Your Training, Skill & Experience Checklist

    Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

    • Senior High School Certificate or Mechanical Technician.

    Additional Knowledge

    • General understanding of maintenance engineering.
    • Have a Ghanaian License E and ability to operate CAT740 Lube truck, telehandler and forklift.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 1 year mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience, preferably in a mining or industrial environment.

    Technical Skills

    Geological Sampler

    About This Role:

    • To obtain high quality samples and be responsible for all field sample collections (i.e. ore control, moisture, and density samples) and submissions, which forms the basis of generating ore control dig polygons for mining.

    In This Role You Will:

    Geological Sampling

    • Validate blast pattern designs.
    • Undertake various daily sampling activities (i.e. Blast Hole, Trenches, and Grab).
    • Carry out all sampling activities following Short Term Planning’s, to ensure that the best ore sample quality is obtained.
    • Place pegs in the correct positions and label them to enable easy identification after drill pick-ups by survey. 
    • Ensure that representative samples are taken as specified, and on time.
    • Conduct on-site sample split down to the required sample size, for delivery to the assay lab (in the case of drill core and Reverse Circulation (RC) sampling).
    • Record samples from the drilling contractors at the drill site and assay lab.
    • Number sample bags correctly to contribute to the accuracy of Ore Control dig block grade estimations.
    • Transport infill drillhole cores from field to core shed.
    • Participate in drill core mark-up, core cutting, core orientation, and core photography.
    • Obtain reviews from the Geological Technician and the Grade Control Geologist regarding quality of ore samples.


    Geological Sampling Assistance

    • Assist in operating Light Vehicles for sampling activities and Ditch Witch machine for cutting sample trenches.
    • Assist the Geology Technician in the facilitation of sample sorting and submissions at the Lab.

    Standards and Quality Compliance

    • Work within current Newmont Compliance and Quality standards, processes and procedures.
    • Check to see that samples are collected in the appropriate bags with the correct labelling.

    Health and Safety Management

    • Accept personal responsibility for own health and safety, as well as health and safety of peers.
    • Provide hands-on assistance during operations activities and ensuring that safe work practices are followed.
    • Abide by and support others in carrying out activities according to Newmont Health and Safety principles.

    Project Controls Analyst III

    About This Role:

    To provide project controls services (cost estimating, scheduling, cost and change management, and reporting) and interface with supply Chain, accounting and finance in support of sustaining capital projects. Individual project size ranges from internal studies to major design and construction, around $30M total cost.

    The role will maintain and update Ahafo South sustaining capital project risk registers and also contribute to successful project execution by effective reporting and cost control.
     
    In This Role You Will:

    1. Project Control Planning 
      1. Support project management through development of cost and schedule baselines, status updates, progress and performance evaluation, variation analysis and change management, forecast to complete, and project reports.
      2. Requires coordination and integration of information provided by multiple stakeholders –suppliers, contractors, and owner’s functions ie:. into summary reports representing the overall project as defined in the owner’s Authorization for Expenditure (AFE).
      3. Provide project controls input and coordinate overall development and Quality Control (QC) of documentation to advance projects through Investment System and Stage Gate Process.
      4. Contribute to scope definition, project execution planning, development of capital cost and schedule and cash flow baselines, evaluation of cost and schedule risk, input to financial models, and preparation of Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) and investment papers.
      5. Engage assistance of corporate estimating and controls functional support if required on complex or higher risk projects.
      6. Participate in annual business planning cycle.
      7. Ensure that project controls systems can generate reports relative to either annual or life-of-project budgets.
      8. Actively participate in key project planning sessions: opportunity framing, interactive planning, risk analysis, formal forecast updates, and project reviews conducted by corporate and third-party benchmarking consultants.
    2. Project Control Management
      1. Maintain an accurate forecast of schedule and cost at project completion throughout the project lifecycle and assume an owner’s perspective on project risk.
      2. Ensure that project controls processes are consistently applied across the project.
      3. Act as Owner’s primary liaison and primary interface with Project Accounting Manager. 
      4. Manage governance to ensure robust and integrated cost and schedule performance across multiple suppliers.
    3. Project Budget Management 
      1. Champion compliance to corporate project controls standards for maintaining overall project integrated master schedule, cost and commitment reports, trend log and contingency drawdown status.
      2. Provide controls input and analysis for monthly reports as well as project and contract closeout reports. 
      3. Review prior to award agreements for work to be performed by suppliers, consultants and contractors, to ensure that project controls requirements are clearly stated and are appropriate to level of contract risk.
      4. During project execution, audit third party reports to ensure adherence to these requirements. 
    4. Project Control Reporting 
      1. Prepare and submit project reports, the most significant of which is the monthly dashboard report submitted to the region and corporate managers.
      2. Maintain risk registers for all active projects and communicate gaps and corrective action identified to the supervisor and implement corrective action as agreed with the supervisor and the contractor.

    Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

    Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

    1. BSc in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Management or Accounting and project management experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience are necessary.

    Additional Knowledge:

    • Project Management training 
    • An understanding of construction technics, methods, productivities, and costs
    • A good knowledge to take off and build rates for work packages
    • A good knowledge of accounting principles.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the engineering and construction management with at least 3-year experience in project controls including successful completion of a project assignment 
    • Practical experience with SAP.
    • Knowledge of Newmont’s stage gate procedures.

    Technical Skills:

    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
    • Good computer literacy skills (SAP, Microsoft Word, Outlook and other Windows applications).
    • Ability to identify problems and to report by using technical Terminologies.
