    Strategic Analyst – Sourcing and Procurement

    We are in search of a professional who will efficiently provide strategic analytical insight to the implementation, continuous improvement and execution of Newmont’s regional procurement strategies, policies and guidelines to drive shared goals and objectives across the Africa operations. To and actively support full potential / Total Cost of Ownership and Asset Management efforts where applicable and execute all sourcing and procurement requirements as part of the category management team.

    Main responsibility areas will include;

    • Category Management.
    • Sourcing and Procurement Execution.
    • Staff Supervision.
    • Quarterly and Annual Business Planning Support.
    • Facilitate the supply chain deliverables on Supplier Risk Management and Lifecycle. Procurement and Contract Management (LPCM) process.

    IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

    • Lead on procurement of key categories.
    • Provide procurement expertise support for the regional office.
    • Facilitate the supply chain deliverables on Supplier Risk Management, Lifecycle Procurement and Contract Management (LPCM) process.
    • Research and provide market intelligence to aid procurement strategies.
    • Seek and leverage local, regional and global Newmont procurement opportunities to deliver value for the region.

    YOUR TRAINING, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE CHECKLIST:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
    • Knowledge of P2P transactional processes.
    • ERP/EAP System knowledge.
    • Mining business acumen.
    • Life Cycle Procurement and Contract Management Practitioner.
    • Supply Risk Management process.
    • Between five (5) to seven (7) years’ of directly related procurement experience or equivalent, a combination of training and experience is necessary.
    • Between two (2) to three (3) years’ of supervision experience leading teams and having direct reports.
    • Mining Experience preferred.
    • Proficient computer and Microsoft Office skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
    • Data Management and Analytical and problem-solving.
    • Service Level management-inventory management.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Freight Co-ordinator

    To support the development, implementation, continuous improvement and execution of Newmont’s logistics and transportation, policies and guidelines to drive shared goals and objectives, specifically for logistics and freight activities. To oversee all administrative regional shipping and transportation planning activities, in order to verify all regulatory obligations are met, in compliance with regional government and Newmont procedures and policies.

    In addition to enhancing Newmont’s overall logistics and transportation management capability through continuous improvement.

    Main responsibility areas will include;

    • Customer Relations.
    • Freight Invoice Review  & Management of SAP Freight Account.
    • Execution.
    • Local Content.

    IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

    • Communicate with Suppliers, Freight Forwarder and End user to achieve desired satisfaction.
    • Evaluate and process claims made by customers and interface with Freight Forwarder for resolution.
    • Review all Freight invoices to ensure accuracy and application to the correct cost centre.
    • Periodically reconcile Freight Account with Finance to ensure freight costs are appropriately allocated.
    • Oversee the operational and administrative requirements regarding freight and logistics for Newmont.
    • Route incoming and outgoing communication regarding freight shipments and transportation needs.
    • File freight and transportation documentation as required by law and record keeping standards, continuously seek new ways to address cost and improve efficiency in the freight and logistics category.
    • Support in the execution local content strategy for the site in alignment with the regional and global strategies.

    YOUR TRAINING, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE CHECKLIST:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business related, Supply Chain, Accounting or equivalent fields
    • Knowledge of Maintenance Planning.
    • Customs Process proficiency.

    • Three (3) to five (5) years’ of directly related freight, logistics and transportation planning or equivalent. A combination of training and experience is required.
    • One (1) to Three (3) years’ of management experience – leading teams and having direct reports.

    • Strong computer, Microsoft Office skills i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
    • Demonstrated analytical skills, knowledge of all Supply Chain functional areas.

    HR Learning & Development Representative

    To develop, deliver, conduct, assess and evaluate mandatory and required theoretical and practical HSE training administered to new employees, contractors and daily hire staff, on all Health, Safety and environment trainings / topics, for Learning and Development (L&D) orientation and specific HR training, within the Project.

    Essential Duties

    • Training, Planning and Preparation
    •     Assist with staff training development needs and identification.
    •     Develop lesson plans, according to the Health and Safety topic presented.
    •     Investigate, research, design and build training materials relating to Health and Safety in the mine environment.
    •     Assist in the revision of existing training topic material.
    •     Develop effective induction programmes and deliver technical hazards training programs such as confined space entry training, safe work at height, lockout tagout and try out, chemical awareness.
    •     Develop and deliver safety piece in the labour pool program.
    •     Coordinate labour pool programmes and organize logistics for the program.

    Training Assessments

    •     Train and assess both Newmont employees and contractors, in accordance with approved and prescribed Newmont Ghana Health and Safety principles.
    •     Assess experienced employees to establish current levels of competency.
    •     Identify competency gaps arising from the assessment and recommend appropriate level of training that will be required.
    •     Maintain complete training record rosters of all classroom training given, in accordance with Newmont and Learning and Development Department requirements.
    •     Assist with the evaluation of existing Newmont Health and Safety training programs.
    •     Assist and guide the participants who cannot read and write properly to understand questions to be able choose the correct answer.

    Training Syllabus

    •     Assist in the development of Health and Safety modules and related training materials.
    •     Adhere strictly to the training policies of Newmont Ghana and align to global training standards.

    Training Execution

    •     Emphasize the importance of Health and Safety in all aspects of the delivery of training to drive the culture of Zero Harm.
    •     Conduct general inductions and other relevant mandatory Health and Safety trainings for both new hires and contractors.
    •     Conduct both instructor-led and face-to-face Health and Safety training for employees and contractors.
    •     Conduct Health and Safety refresher training for current employees and contractors.
    •     Maintain all necessary processes and procedures, as outlined in LSO (SAP).
    •     Ensure all training records are entered in SAP and training assessments are properly filed.

    Training Evaluations

    •     Prepare and present reports on training outcomes for the Learning and Development Department.
    •     Monitor progress of employees and contractors (on the field) and provide ongoing training and instruction, as required.
    •     Give feedback  to contractors on various  trainings
    •     Prepare training reports on weekly.

    Training & Experience

    • Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
    • Higher National Diploma in Health and Safety.
       

    Additional Knowledge:

    • Workplace Trainer and Assessor Certification is preferable.
    • Health, Safety & Environment Officer Certification (MINCOM).
    • Sound theoretical, practical knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety principles in a large-scale gold mining project.
    • Sound knowledge of competency-based curricula.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in an instructional training and delivery environment, preferably with a Health and Safety background
    • Working Conditions
    • Incumbent may have to work additional hours and days to maintain the integrity of the training program.
    • Incumbent may have to travel to domestic sites in the performance of duties.
