Accountant at Sabre Education

JOB PURPOSE

•     Responsible for entering financial information and maintaining all financial records for projects and for the Organisation.
•     Manage financial control, prepare and analyze budgets, develop financial reports and make relevant recommendations on budget expenditures
•     Oversee the Finance Unit to provide an effective accounting system to deal with the nuances of non-profit accounting and reporting.
•     Responsible for designated donor project budgeting, reporting and to ensure compliance with donor’s requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•     Oversight of the financial record keeping, controls and reconcile the documentation, uploads the financial information in Clearbooks
•     Efficient administration of account payable, account receivable, cash management, general ledger and payroll
•     Preparation of accurate and timely financial reports such as financial statements, project finance reports, bank reconciliations.
•     Analyze and evaluate information from the financial reports and provide management with proposals on best practice in financial operations.
•     Engage with cash forecasting, budgeting, budget monitoring and variance explanation reports
•     Manage financial control, prepare and analyze budgets, develop financial reports, and make recommendations on budget expenditures
•     Ensure all financial and statutory regulations are adhered to
•     Oversee the financial audits of all projects of the organization in the UK and Ghana.
•     Coaching and developing the capacity of staff

Required Skills or Experience

•     Minimum of a first degree in Accounting from a recognized tertiary institution with at least 5 years post qualification relevant work experience
•     Minimum of 3 years’ prior managerial experience in an NGO setting and reporting to institutional donors will be of added advantage.
•     Fully-Qualified Accountant (ICA, CIMA, ACCA)

•     Adept at Microsoft Office suite, at least one accounting software and ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and tools.       Knowledge of Clearbooks is an advantage.
•     Ability to handle month end close processes, overhead allocations and account reconciliations
