Assistant Director of Finance at Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC)

Provider will work directly with the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre and report directly to the Director of Finance Ashesi University and indirectly to the Executive Director-GCIC.  

Purpose

Provider is being hired as the Assistant Finance Director of Finance to oversee and direct the financial planning, management and reporting of GCIC’s finances .

Job Responsibilities

The Provider’s role includes but is not limited to:

• Manage GCIC’s financial planning and accounting; and drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices at GCIC.
• Prepare and post monthly accruals, prepayments, and similar accounting entries.
• Manage financial monitoring and reporting, including leading the analysis of monthly and quarterly reports and presenting same to the GCIC Management, GCIC Advisory Board, Ashesi Director of Finance, and Ashesi’s Management Finance Committee (MFC) and Board as may be required.
• Manage an end-to-end audit process of current systems – while acting as the contact person at GCIC for both internal and external audits
• Ensure compliance with internal GCIC and Ashesi policies, donors and investors’ requirements.
• Continually identify risks to delivery, propose solutions where necessary and effectively manage stakeholder expectations throughout.
• Leading the team responsible for payroll, related withholding taxes, GRA processes, and other statutory compliance requirements.
• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
• Ensure regular and timely reconciliations of bank accounts and relevant ledgers for accurate reporting.
• Undertake any additional duties assigned by GCIC and mutually agreed.

Working Conditions

• The job may require working outside office hours to meet deadlines and address operational emergencies in some cases.
• International and domestic travel may occur from time to time.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Master’s degree in finance and/or recognized professional certification with a minimum 8 years in financial and administration management, preferably within the Not-for-profit organization or environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting with a minimum of 8 to 10 years’ progressive finance experience.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in grant financial management
• Previous experience in managing relations with investors.
• Strong financial management skills.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent Excel skills.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Team player and fast learner comfortable working in a fast paced, ever changing environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Office 365) products, and any cloud-based Accounting Software
• Ability to set and meet deadlines consistently.
