    DevOps Engineer

    Job Summary

    • The DevOps Engineer (DE) has complete ownership of local service delivery and strategic technically planning to support the vision of Banking solutions team.  Will be directly accountable individually for the entire life cycle of the multiple solutions under his/her responsibility, guaranteeing accuracy, quality and time line accomplishment.

    Accountability:

    Responsible for local service delivery and strategic technically planning to support the vision of Banking solutions and innovations team

    • Develop and design systems architecture, defining standards and protocols for data exchange, communications, software and interconnection for information systems.
    • Responsible for the governance of the SOA architecture
    • Manage multiple projects and associate project managers. 
    • Partner with the organization to understand organization and departmental strategy and agree information systems solutions to meet needs.
    • Lead in designing, specifying and selecting information system solutions, considering functionality, data, security, integration, infrastructure and performance.
    • Lead the organization in exploiting technology & use knowledge of Tech solutions to drive organizational change and support business process design.
    • Manage trade-offs between speed to market, quality and financial impact.

    Accountability:

    Outputs to deliver this accountability:

    • Together with Risk and Compliance team, review the key risk and compliance challenges identified in the area and the key areas of concern/surveillance.
    • Together with the Risk and Compliance team implement measures to address notable risks and regulatory challenges.
    • Implement measures to review the risk and compliance performance of the unit/function on a regular basis and take corrective action.
    • Complete all relevant Management Assurance or Risk reports and attestations as required.
    • Ensure that processes, control requirements and risk management frameworks that impact the area are documented and understood by all members of the team.
    • Work with Absa Internal Audit and Management Assurance during the scoping of audits to ensure fair coverage.
    • Own and agree corrective action items with Internal Audit and Management Assurance for findings related to the functional area under management.
    • Arrange issue assurance for closed audit findings.
    • Complete required compliance and SOX attestations and ensure that impacted team members complete their attestations.
    • Ensure that the team understands all compliance requirements and call for the area's

    Accountability:

    Outputs to deliver this accountability:

    • Increase revenue potential for the business by effectively managing service levels of critical applications
    • Minimize time-to-resolution (TTR) of business service disruptions through fast real-time root cause analysis of solutions deployed.
    • Minimize cost of IT infrastructure through optimizing delivery and performance of business services.
    • Implement actions resulting from formalised service reviews (including questionnaires, production reporting, loss event reporting, etc).
    • Continuously monitor service levels and implement tactical measures to improve customer satisfaction.
    • Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships within the Bank to understand the business needs and changes in customer needs.
    • Participate in Bank wide forums and governance structures as required or directed.
    • Work of the Head of Solutions to communicate and track the achievement of Service levels (documented in Service Level Agreements) on an on-going basis and take corrective action as required on all solutions deployed.
    • Manage the operational teams to ensure they deliver reliable services.

    • Adhere to sound financial and governance controls to support sound resource management and financial control within the unit.
    • Ensure adherence to all required compliance requirements, financial policies and supply chain policies within the bank.

    • Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Physical, Mathematical, Computer and Life Sciences (Required)
