Director of Internal Audit at Takoradi Technical University

The Governing Council of Takoradi Technical University announces for the information of the Academic Community and the General Public the executive search for qualified and enterprising persons for the position of: Director of Internal Audit

The Position / Function

The Director of Internal Audit shall among others be:

• Responsible for the internal audit of the accounts and financial transactions of the University
• Required to report to the Governing Council through the Audit Committee
• Responsible for the establishment and operation of an efficient and effective financial control system
• Responsible for vetting all proposed expenditure to ensure compliance with laid-down internal control systems and other statutory requirements
• Responsible for conducting periodic examination fo the accounts of the University including all units with limited financial and operational autonomy
• Required to monitor and ensure that all expenditure incurred has been authorized and are within budgetary provisions
• Responsible for liaising with external auditors and ensure that appropriate action is taken on reported audit findings
• Responsible for ensuring that the University complies with the internal audit agency Act, 2003 (Act 565) and all other relevant statutory regulations

Qualification Required & Experience

He/She must:

• Be a Chartered Accountant and hold a minimum of Master’s Degree in the relevant field
• Must have served as Deputy Internal Auditor in University or comparable grade in a similar institution/organisation for at least 6 years
• Must be computer literate and be conversant with accounting/auditing software applications

In addition, applicant must:

• Be analytical, critical, result-oriented, innovative and visionary
• Possess hands-on ability to work independently
• Possess excellent communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills
• Be a good team player
• Be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and posses proactive commercial flair

Terms of Appointments

The terms and conditions of the appointment of the above positions shall be determined by the Governing Council of the University consistent with the Technical Universities, Act 2016 (Act 922) as amended and statutes of Takoradi Technical University
The Salary and conditions of service attached to these positions are very attractive and comparable to those in analogous Universities in Ghana.

Tenure of Office

Candidates must be able to hold office for a minimum of 4 years on first appointment and may, on application, be re-appointed for a further term of up to 4 years only if that is not beyoung the statutory retirement age of 60 years
