    Freight Coordinator

    About The Job

    About This Role

    • To support the development, implementation, continuous improvement and execution of Newmont’s logistics and transportation, policies and guidelines to drive shared goals and objectives across the entire Supply Chain and specifically for logistics and freight activities. 
    • To oversee all administrative regional modal and transportation planning activities, in order to verify all regulatory obligations are met, in compliance with regional government and Newmont procedures and policies. 
    • To enhance Newmont’s overall logistics and transportation management capability through continuous improvement and development of the organisation.

    In This Role You Will

    • Customer Relations:
      • Communicate with suppliers, Freight Forwarder and End user, to achieve desired satisfaction. 
      • Evaluate and process claims made by customers and interface with Freight Forwarder for resolution.
      • Freight Invoice Review & Management of SAP Freight Account:
      • Responsible for the review of all Freight invoices to ensure accuracy and application to the correct cost centre
      • Responsible for the periodic reconciliation of Freight Account with Finance to ensure freight cost are appropriately allocated.
    • Execution:
      • Oversee the operational and administrative requirements regarding freight and logistics for Newmont.
      • Coordinate and monitor Newmont Freight operations. 
      • Optimize shipping and transport procedures. 
      • Plan and track the shipment of final products according to customer requirements. 
      • Route incoming and outgoing communication regarding freight shipments and transportation needs. 
      • File freight and transportation documentation as required by law and record keeping standards.
      • Evaluate the performance, quality, and pricing of freight vendors.
      • Continuously seek new ways to address cost and improve efficiency in the freight and logistics category.
    • Local Content:
      • Support in the execution local content strategy for the site in alignment with the regional and global strategies.

    Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

    • Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):
      • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience. 

    Additional Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of Maintenance Planning. 
    • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) / Systems, Applications and Processes (SAP) / Employee Assistance Program (EAP) System Knowledge
    • Knowledge of the supply chain process. 
    • Knowledge of local laws, regulations and requirements. 
    • A working knowledge of logistics software. 
    • Knowledge of Aviation Safety Performance Standards.
    • Knowledge of Maintenance Planning. 
    • Knowledge of Customs and Regulations (ESR FF, Hazmat).
    • Recognized qualification on shipping and freight forwarding.
    • Finance and Accounting knowledge will be useful.

    Experience:

    • 3 to 5 years of directly related freight, logistics and transportation planning or equivalent combination of training and experience are necessary. 
    • 1 to 3 years of management experience – leading teams and having direct reports.
    • Mining experience preferred.

    Technical Skills:

    • Good computer skills using office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
    • Data Management skills.
    • Good analytical skills, knowledge of all Supply Chain functional areas.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must possess and demonstrate high ethical and professional standards in all dealings.
    • Local Content Legislation Business Process Improvement skills (process mapping, CI, Six Sigma). 
    • Warehouse design and flow. 
    • Inventory accuracy.
