    Housing Assistant

    Duties

    • Incumbent assists the General Services Officer in the location of suitable short-term lease residential properties for Mission employees. This is a non-supervisory position and supervised by the Housing Supervisor – FSN-09.  
    • Keeps housing list, housing view spread sheet and RPA systems up to date and update utilities log with current occupant information.
    • Keeps Housing Board Records

    Qualifications and Evaluations
    Requirements:
    EXPERIENCE: 

    • A minimum of 3 years experience with renting residential properties is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE: 

    • Knowledge of local housing markets, residential areas, role and real estate agents.  Must know his/her way around the city. Should be able to provide pertinent advice on properties, since bad advice could mean the loss of a potentially good property. Knowledgeable in good customer service, lease/rental management, wood and joinery works, floor plan measurements and sketches

    Education Requirements:

    • Completion of High School diploma (Secondary school) is required.

    Evaluations:

    • Post may choose to add the phrase “This may be tested” after a language, skill, and/or ability.  Review the VA template for specific information.

    LANGUAGE:  Fluent English (reading, writing and spoken language ) is required.  On occasion job holder may need to act as an interpreter in English  (Language proficiency may be tested).
    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Ability to work under little or no supervision.  Ability to display initiative and resourcefulness in the performance of duties. Ability to perform tasks under pressure.  Must have a valid driver's license Class B for a minimum of 5 years.  Should be skilled in Microsoft Office applications, the use of e-mail and downloads from the computer. Ability to understand, explain and interpret the USG model lease. Must have good persuasion and negotiation skills. (Driving skills may be tested).
