    Metallurgical Manager - CIL

    Role Details

    • Gold Fields Ghana Limited is currently seeking to employ the services of   a Metallurgical Manager to lead its metallurgical team on the Tarkwa Mine
    • Reporting to the General Manager the Metallurgical manager will be responsible for managing the operational and technical aspects of the gold processing plant and related infrastructure including tailings storage and water treatment facilities.
    • The role will also be required to develop timely action plans to effectively manage the operations of the process plant to ensure a safe sustainable operation in.

    About the role:

    • Provide leadership to a multi-faceted and multi-cultural production team to achieve business objectives of the process plant
    • Manage the overall design of process flowsheets, plant layouts, material handling systems, manpower requirements, equipment procurement and material utilization on the process plant
    • Providing leadership, guidance, support and back-up to operational and maintenance personnel in order to increase efficiency and achieve targets whilst adhering to mine standards and legislation
    • Monitor and analyze key metallurgical performance indicators of process operations and implement corrective actions to improve efficiencies.
    • Develop and manage metallurgical operations and work practices that maximize operational efficiencies.
    • Seek innovative ways to improve overall process plant efficiency in the use of key reagents and input
    • Lead the implementation of all metallurgical optimisation projects and related activities on the process plant  
    • Active involvement in plant decision making process by way of reviewing and monitoring process parameters
    • Plan and manage plant shutdowns to maximize time available for plant maintenance and processing jobs whilst ensuring minimal production losses
    • Manage and advise on the operation of all metallurgical processes and activities on the mine in accordance with best practices in health and safety.
    • Drive operational cost control and monitor key cost drivers in line with reducing overall processing cost for the mine int eh short and long term
    • Drive mill availability, efficiency, and utilisation through implementation of reliability guidelines and action plans to improve relevant mill kpi’s

    About you:

    • Tertiary qualification in Chemical or Mineral Processing engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution
    • Minimum 10years’ experience in large-scale open pit CIL and heap leach operations
    • Must have relevant leadership experience on a large-scale low grade high throughput metallurgical plant
    • Minimum 5 years senior management experience leading diverse metallurgical teams
    • Must have relevant Certification from the mineral commission of Ghana
    • Post Graduate qualification in leadership/management is a key requirement for this role
    • Experience in the management of a mill production team (process and engineering)
    • Detailed knowledge of carbon handling, solution chemistry, elution principles and practices, comminution, materials handling, pumping systems, smelting, leach pad construction and stacking techniques
    • Detailed knowledge of metallurgical accounting principles and practices
    • In-depth knowledge of assay / metallurgical laboratory operations
    • Proven leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills
    • Experience with modern environmental management and safety procedures
    • Medical fitness for the position and environment
