    Regional Operations & Logistics Manager

    Description

    • As part of West Africa Regional Office's Operations Team, you will business partner with assigned business units such as Marine Operations and Procurement & Logistics in SIN HQ, with focus on Vessels' operations & Equipment management.

    Operations

    • Oversee and challenge Agencies Management in relation to vessels’ operations, including:-
    • Coordinating with HQ Vessel Ops on the planning of each vessel’s call and any schedule adjustments
    • Coordinating with Terminals on berthing plans, productivity, etc;
    • Responsible and accountable for ensuring maximum vessel utilization upon vessel departure from the region;
    • Responsible and accountable for minimizing voyage time wastage e.g. waiting for pilot, gangway down, last lift to last lashing, etc. for the locations within the region;
    • Responsible and accountable for delivering the operations related KPI and process streamlining for the Agencies within the region;
    • Perform Operational coordination with partners, as required;
    • Support Regional Head and HQ Procurement Team on:-
    • Contract renewal or negotiations with vendors
    • Regular review of vendors service quality and cost/tariff;
    • Drive cost cutting initiatives in relation to Marine & Terminal expenses in the region;
    • Support Regional Head and HQ Procurement Team on Third Party Feeder (3PF) procurement within the region;
    • Responsible and accountable for putting in place process for Agency Staff who deal with IMDG Cargo to be trained and familiar with relevant circulars relating to Dangerous Cargo (Including new joiners);
    • Responsible and accountable for ensuring stowage planning process, in Terminals within the region, meets:-
    • Basic parameters (especially stack weight, weight group, reefer)
    • IMDG Stowage as per stowage instruction provided by Central Planners;
    • Responsible and accountable for ensuring that Agency Ops perform the required system updates in a timely fashion;
    • Provide support to Regional PIL Rep & HQ Special cargo team to develop & enhance special cargo business & work with agency ops & respective terminals in special handling activities; &
    • Lead and guide the Agencies operations team

    Logistics (Equipment Management)

    • Management of Regional container inventory with regards to balances, utilization and turn times;
    • Coordinate with HQ in distribution of containers within the region to cover forecasted demand and reposition planning;
    • Coordinate with HQ to drive local vendors in the evacuation of containers from the region to Asia;
    • Manage laden and empty overdue containers to minimum level;
    • Manage analytics of container movement and activities to improve container management efficiency;
    • Responsible and accountable for delivering the container related KPI and process of the Agencies within the region;
    • Drive cost cutting initiatives in relation to container movements, depots, dwell time, maintenance/repair and storage in the region. This includes regular review of vendors service quality and cost/tariff;
    • Coordinate with HQ to develop Intermodal network in the region;
    • Support Regional Head and HQ in landside logistics procurement, development and project in the region; &
    • Lead and guide the Agencies logistics team

    Others

    • Travel regularly within the Region, representing the Regional office for business & meet and build positive relationships with all relevant stakeholders – Agencies, Customers & Vendors
    • Other ad-hoc duties as assigned

    Requirements:-

    • Sailing experience (Master Mariner certification preferred)
    • 5 years of ops working experience in Africa with a commercial mindset
    • Established connections with regional terminals
    • Prior experience with handling of special & break bulk shipments
    • Good Dashboarding data analytical skills
