Job Description

• Position exists to promote a safe and peaceful environment by providing competent, professional physical security coverage and response for Church properties and
• facilities, employees, Church leaders, visitors and guests.

Responsibilities

• First responder to fire and health emergencies. May provide first aid, CPR and/or AED to sick or injured victims. Physically remove victims from harm's way
• When needed, call for emergency response
• Recognize and manage life-threatening security incidents, including the potential of taking of life or placing life at risk
• Actively patrol facilities and grounds
• Professionally provide assistance to visitors as needed
• Deal effectively with disruptive or combative individuals. Physically restrain, conduct searches, handcuff, and detain subjects according to applicable laws and statutes
• Maintain a daily log of incidents and communicate safety and security issues
• Watch for and respond to safety hazards and criminal, suspicious, and security issues
• Maintain a basic knowledge of technical security systems
• Complete reports in the Church Security online reporting system (SIR) when necessary
• Complete assigned security training and re-certifications
• Work any shift, location, or assignment
• Follow local laws and security policies and processes
• Demonstrate proven leadership in stressful situations

Qualifications

• Must be a member of the Church and worthy of a temple recommend.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Diploma or Security Certification from an accredited institution (desirable)
• 2 years' related work experience. 1 year of security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred
• Functional knowledge of technical security systems or aptitude to learn these skills
• Has no prior criminal record or affiliation with anti-government or anti-Church groups
• Pass required screening, suitability assessment, background, and physical fitness tests
• Strong reading, writing, and communication skills in English. French language ability is an added advantage
• Excellent Interpersonal Skills. Have a professional and friendly demeanor
• Represents the truth clearly and accurately
• Must be physically and mentally fit to attend to the rigors of security work. Physical activity includes hearing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motion. Some sedentary work and heavy work required. Must be able to lift at least 23kg
• Experience in using, calibrating, and maintaining electronic alarms and surveillance equipment preferred
• First responder, medical, or customer service experience preferred
• Excellent visual capability
• Good computer skills
• Possess Valid Driver’s License
• Tactfulness and wise judgment in exercising duties required
• Be willing to accept directions from supervision in a positive manner
