Senior Accountant at Complete Farmer

The Opportunity

• You would be working with the Finance team and cross-functional teams and will report to the Chief Finance Officer.

About your role on the team

• This position is mainly responsible for making financial decisions by collecting, tracking, correcting, and communicating the financial position of the company. You will record transactions, compile and analyze data, perform audits, assist with budgets and financial forecasting, compute taxes, and report findings to management and other entities.
• You will join a dynamic and fast-paced environment and work with cross-functional teams while working with large amounts of numerical data, handling multiple tasks with deadlines, and providing transparent and complete reports to management. You should have a firm grasp of accounting and financial practices and regulations and possess strong computer and verbal and written communication skills.
• The accountant will be responsible for the management and reporting of the financial data of the organization.

Your Contribution

• Create and manage invoicing processes and contracts and ensure the necessary pricing controls are followed.
• Assist in conducting KYC/KYB processes on customers and ensure that all customers and clients are in good standing to engage in business with the organizations.
• Process requests, retirements of budgets, and payments and settlements for organizational activities and ensure budget controls are enforced.
• Performing internal audits and resolving discrepancies whiles ensuring processes are followed within the organization.
• Assessing internal controls including risk analysis and review of risk areas
• Keeping informed about current legislation relating to finance and accounting.
• Assisting management in the decision-making process by preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
• Reconciling the company’s bank statements, inventory, and bookkeeping ledgers
• Filing and remitting taxes and other financial obligations
• Initiating and managing financial and accounting software used by the company.
• Compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts and reporting on financial position/variance analysis of the organization.
• Ensuring financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
• Establishing and monitoring the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures.
• Collecting and analyzing financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and integrity of financial data.
• Maintaining and reconciling fixed asset schedules.
• Creating a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for accounting policy and regulations, and rolling out reconciliation procedures

To succeed you must

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• Five years of experience as an auditor or financial controller.
• Have a working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
• Must have a chartered accountant qualification.
• Have strong financial analysis skills.
• Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Have proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
• Working knowledge of non-profit tax filing and tax compliance as it pertains to regional and national regulations
• Demonstrated ability to work in a leadership role and supervise junior-level subordinates.
• Experience in budget creation for your department to coordinate team training and certifications.
• Thorough understanding of financial application security ensuring that all financial data is secure and complies with confidentiality policies.
• Demonstrated ability to support all other departments within the company and coordinate training and information sessions
