    Technical Manager – Process

    To support the Process Department in identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities across both operations and maintenance disciplines to enable optimal production results in a safe and cost-effective manner and help to safely and cost-effectively maximize recovery and gold production while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Provide mentorship to Processing Department staff
    • Act as a change agent and project sponsor/lead for key initiatives; model organizational values, sets the cultural tone and prioritizes business goals
    • Collaborate with management to identify and analyze business requirements and the implications for the team; identifies gaps and implements agreed upon solutions
    • Act as a technical advisor to the Process Plant Management
    • Identify and cultivate the improvement of idea generation. Lead implementation of improvement ideas.
    • Demonstrate best practices in project management
    • Challenge the status quo to promote the overall improvement of the Process Plant.
    • Ensure risks and issues are identified and communicated in a timely manner.
    • Technically review and ensure efficient operation of all areas of the process plant.
    • Break multi-dimensional problems or processes into component parts to
    • help identify a range of solutions
    • Work with Process Management to implement strategies in all areas of the Ore Process to achieve production goals. Provide follow up and guidance to ensure these objectives are met.
    • Provide guidance and leadership to support studies and metallurgical testing programs for project development.
    • Assess the resources of the department to maximize their use in all areas
    • Work collaboratively across the organization to resolve complex issues
    • and avoid risks to the Process Plant target delivery
    • Perform other related functions as assigned by the Supervisor.

    Education and Experience

    • University degree (Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering) or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Valid International driver’s license

    Lean Six Sigma and Project Management methodologies.

    • Minimum of 15 years gold Ore Processing experience
    • In-depth technical knowledge of gold extraction metallurgical processes with particular emphasis on grinding, CIL, and refining.
    • In-depth knowledge of plant maintenance best practices.
    • Knowledge and experience of leading integrated teams of ore processing, and maintenance functions
    • Ability to lead professionals through critical thinking paths for process improvement idea generation and then lead the subsequent successful implementation of developed concepts.
    • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
