    Control Room Lead

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The purpose of this role is to monitor the processing plant operations through electronic representation shown on monitors as well as make changes to variables in consultation with other field personnel and departments to ensure smooth running of processes according to established procedures.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Monitor plant operations to ensure safe and smooth running of the entire processing plant circuit.
    • Monitor plant operations to ensure process streams deliver on set points / targets
    • Report anomalies/deviations to the Sectional Lead and Operations Lead
    • Promote AGA Health, Safety and Environmental actions for optimum performance.
    • Take appropriate action in case of irregularities or emergencies in consultation with relevant stakeholders including plant operators, supervisors, managers etc.
    • Maintain records of plant operations and development performance including performance of machinery.
    • Manage emergency procedures. The control room lead is to react quickly in case of emergency and set emergency procedures in motion.
    • Monitor all fire alarms within the process plant
    • Ensure that the control room remain secure at all times and that no unauthorized person enter the control room
    • Ensure the surveillance monitors are observed at all times
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • A Tertiary qualification in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, Materials or Chemical engineering or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.
    • Ability to demonstrate understanding of metallurgical processes as well as engineering concepts and practices to be able to effectively coordinate the processes

    Experience 

    • 5 years’ experience in a process plant preferably 2-3 years as Control Room/Shift Supervisor/ Metallurgist role

    Technical Competencies

    • Demonstrate knowledge of metallurgical processes.
    • Monitoring of plant performance and efficiency.
    • Must be alert at all times to be able to communicate quickly with relevant stakeholders and take appropriate actions in case of deviations and emergencies.

    Metallurgist

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, the incumbent will ensure maximum metallurgical efficiency is being achieved. The Metallurgist will also initiate technical investigation and recommend changes to the circuit to optimize gold recovery and ensure environmental compliance.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Safety Management plan elements for the areas under the incumbent’s control
    • Review application of safety standards and work practices for the refurbishment construction and infrastructure workforce to enable the safety targets to be managed and achieved.
    • Apply HSE regulations with zero tolerance to breaches.
    • Demonstrate safety behaviour consistent with AGAG’s vision and values.
    • Lead by example to create a safe working environment, where risks are assessed and managed, so tasks are performed without risk of injury or harm.
    • Continuous improvement of design and field safety performance.
    • Inspect, audit, JHA, etc. the Safety Management System delivering compliance
    • Investigate timely all injuries, illness, and incidents with actions plans developed to prevent recurrences
    • Contribute to the Metallurgy Department’s target to achieve zero reportable environmental incidents, zero compliance breaches and no events requiring public disclosure (DOS).
    • Utilise ‘Analyse and Improve’ tools to investigate process interruptions so that exposure to environmental risks is reduced (DOS).
    • Reduce energy usage by running the plant energy consumption per unit produced at the optimal rate with sphere of influence (DO).
    • Contribute to the Processing Department’s objective to eliminate hydrocarbon and hyper saline water spills to zero within the Metallurgy Department (DOS).
    • Assist in developing and reviewing cyanide management protocol in compliance with ICMI Code.
    • Provide metallurgical support to the operations on a daily basis.
    • Ensure that sampling techniques and sample preparation procedures are correct and in accordance with standard practices.
    • Ensure maximum metallurgical performance is being achieved by the STP plant.
    • Create a positive environment towards personal and equipment safety, and safe working practices. To comply with all statutory Company safety rules and regulations.
    • Assist with training of operational staff on relevant metallurgical aspects.
    • Oversee plant metallurgical laboratory activities
    • Conduct routine plant laboratory test works and investigations
    • Oversee all plant test work activities in external laboratories
    • Liaise with the Gold Room Supervisor to ensure that the Gravity section works efficiently and effectively.
    • Inspect and monitor Cyclones, samplers, screens, Knelsons etc to ensure spares are available for change outs.
    • Monitor the water balance of the circuit and ensure that the control room operators are on top of every situation
    • Monitor the reagent addition and trend the reagent usage every morning to ensure that consumption is within budget
    • Liaise with the Production Superintendent for the Mill reline program
    • Confirm the liners to be changed and also physically take measurements of discharge grates to be changed and records well kept.
    • Coordinate test work programs for new brownfield ore bodies to determine the metallurgical characteristics in order to advise on percentage and processing cost of extractable gold, the magnitude of plant modification required to process the ore which will be considered in the decision-making process
    • Ensure cost impacts in area of accountability are evaluated, approved and budget is revised
    • Oversee routine plant laboratory (wet-chem lab and fire assay) analyses, ensure adequate QA QC protocols are being observed, query results and accept results which meet set acceptance criteria

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Recognized tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Mineral, Material or Chemical Engineering
    • Professional Engineer (Ghana Institution of Engineers)

    Experience 

    • 2 - 5 years’ experience in a processing plant.
    • Experience and understanding of total mining cycle.
    • Proven experience in collaborating with the engineering department

    Legal Requirements

    • Plant Supervisor Certification Certificate of competence as per LI 2182
    • Professional membership with GhiE or equivalent

    Technical Competencies

    • Management of plant performance and efficiency
    • Operating and SIBC budgeting planning, forecasting and control
    • Production scheduling
    • Reagents & consumables (including mill liners) stock management, forecast and control
    • In depth understanding of Metallurgical Accounting
    • Demonstrable knowledge of metallurgical processes such as, but not limited to, size reduction, flotation, biological oxidation, leaching, desorption and tailings disposal
    • Metallurgical optimisation and continuous improvement

    Senior Officer - Human Resources

    Role Purpose

    To effectively co-ordinate day to day operations and provide technical expertise and guidance in the areas of employee benefits, leave management, talent acquisition and diversity and inclusion.

    Role Accountabilities

    HR Administration duties

    Maintain accurate database and records on all employees’ benefits/claims processed for payments, including but not limited to:

    • Medical claims.
    • Out-of-station claims
    • Long Service Awards.
    • Child Education Subsidies

    Leave Management:

    • Compile a comprehensive leave schedule/roster and ensure its enforcement to effectively manage the leave liabilities for the mine.
    • Maintain accurate records of employee leave days in SAP and submit monthly leave reports
    • Follow up on employees with large leave balances for leave planning schedule in conjunction with line managers

    Talent Acquisition:

    • Assist in Overseeing the recruitment process including liaising with candidates, line managers, recruitment agencies, preparing job descriptions and conducting interviews in compliance with policies and procedures.
    • Efficiently coordinate all post interview recruitment processes - pre-employment medical assessments, Psychometric assessment.
    • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives, which includes planning and managing the onboarding process for all new hires.
    • Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee separation.
    • Take a proactive approach to risk management in the areas of recruitment, ensuring the issues are identified, addressed, reported and, where appropriate, escalated.

    • Contribute to the mine’s Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) policy and plan of action as a technical expert in the area, which includes managing the initiatives, events and programs that support the overall objectives and goals.

    Person’s Specification

    Qualification

    • BSc Human Resources / Management Studies or its equivalent from reputable institutions
    • Professional Certified in Human Resource will be an added advantage

    Experience

    • Minimum three (3) years’ relevant professional experience, preferably in Mining.
    • Experience of talent acquisition within mining environment
    • Experience working on Diversity and Inclusion and gender equality advancement and cultural shift.

    Technical Competencies

    • Demonstrated ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
    • Excellent quality, attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills with the ability to work independently and to meet deadlines.
    • Commitment to process of continuous improvement.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other software’s applicable to role.
    • Proficient in the use of SAP (HCM) module and other Human Resource Information Systems.
