    Senior Surveyor

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    • The Senior Surveyor, (MTS) provides accurate and accessible data capture, validation, analysis, and reporting on volumes of all mining works and stockpiles

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Must contribute to the development of Survey procedures and tools for the redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine, in particular, the modernization of the primary control network and the introduction of the secondary control network
    • Must develop and communicate a rolling (4-3-2-1) quarterly plan for the budgeted year identifying Survey priorities, milestones, and events
    • Must contribute to the development of the annual cost center budget to achieve the required targets for approved Survey Outputs
    • Must manage the delivery of work by the Survey function within approved budget targets and specified timeframes, costs, and related KPIs
    • Must demonstrate Safety Leadership and improve the Culture within the team and with peers regarding Safety, Health, Environment, and Sustainable Development
    • Must provide the systems, resources, and expertise to develop direct reports to capably and consistently deliver the annual budget according to their role and level of authority

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification 

    • BSc Geodetic/Geomatic Engineering 

    Experience

    • A minimum of five years of proven experience in mine surveying in either an underground or open-pit mining environment of which at least two years is a senior supervisory level within a planning/technical department.

    Technical Competencies

    • Experience in Survey functional Management;
    • Demonstrate knowledge in the mining operations value chain
    • Familiarity with Survey Software

    Metallurgical Training Specialist

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    • Reporting to the Plant Manager -Technical, the incumbent will manage the training and development strategy of the department by developing and updating the training matrix and the individual development plans in consultation with the human resources department.
    • The Metallurgical Training Specialist will be responsible for developing and coordinating the revision of standard operating procedures of the processing plant as well as conducting on-the-job training need analysis for employees in the processing plant and mapping each course to all employees in a training matrix and also design processing related technical training programs to adhere to the skill gaps identified within the department.
    • The incumbent will also be responsible for training and upskilling entire Process Plant workforce to improve health, safety and environmental practices for increased production efficiencies.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Demonstrate safety behaviour that is consistent with AGAG’s vision and values.
    • Identify safety training needs and deliver safety training requirements to enable personnel to safely perform their designated work
    • Lead by example to create a safe working environment, where risks are assessed and managed, so tasks are performed without risk of injury or harm.
    • Contribute to the department’s target to achieve zero reportable environmental incidents, zero compliance breaches and no events requiring public disclosure.
    • Utilise ‘Analyse and Improve’ tools to investigate process interruptions so that exposure to environmental risks is reduced.
    • Reduce energy usage by running the plant energy consumption per unit produced at the optimal rate with sphere of influence.
    • Contribute to the Processing Department’s objective to eliminate hydrocarbon and hyper saline water spills to zero within the Metallurgy Department.
    • Conduct a robust baseline training needs/requirement gap analysis for the entire Processing department and drive gap closure training programmes.
    • Design an annual training strategy for the Process Plant team and ensure it synchronizes with the mine wide training agenda that sits with the Human Resource Department.
    • Coordinate annual IDPs for the Process Plant team and follow through their execution with support from HR training section.
    • Liaise with the Cyanide Champion and other stakeholders to ensure Processing department play their role in supporting the mine to achieve and sustain ICMI re-certification. Community and stakeholder regular engagement on cyanide awareness.
    • Work closely with HR training team to ensure workers within the department attain the required MINCOM certifications.
    • Work closely with Safety, Health and Environment to ensure the Processing Plant achieves and sustain ISO 45001 and ISO14001 compliance.
    • Liaise with Plant Management and other stakeholders to regularly update/review all plant SOPs, permits, logsheets and other documentations to ensure the relevant data is captured.
    • Coordinate both on the job training, classroom training, including external and internal resource assistance where required.
    • Build a robust repository for all trainings documentation and activities for referencing when required. Ensure the training matrix is well structured and updated.

     
    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Recognized tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Mineral, Material or Chemical Engineering.
    • Professional Engineer will be a plus. (Ghana Institution of Engineers)

     
    Experience 

    • Proven previous experience in Process Plant training role. Minimum of 8 years in senior roles
    • Proven experience in Technical Metallurgical role. Minimum of 5 years in such role
    • Experience and understanding of total mining cycle.
    • Proven experience in collaborating with the engineering department

    Legal Requirement

    • Plant/Metallurgical/Processing Superintendent Certification from MINCOM

    Mechanical Superintendent - Process Plant

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    • The purpose of this role is to administer, resolve all technical maintenance issues and train supervisors to deliver maximum efficiency of equipment and high plant availability in a safe and sustainable manner by efficiently and effectively maintaining and improving all fixed plant mechanical installations.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Accountable for own safety, the safety of Supervisors (Duty of Care). The accountability extends to monitoring of contractors providing services to the Mechanical section. Report positive performance and concerns to the Engineering Manager-Process Plant for action. Objective is zero injuries.
    • Participate in development and review of operating procedures and risk assessments.
    • Contribute to achieving zero reportable environmental incidents
    • Coordinate task allocation and monitor the quality of work by the Technicians, contractors, and other service providers, follow up on the completion of tasks and projects by proving guidance, feedback, responding to questions and providing instructions on how to complete aspects of the work, within the boundaries described by the Manager
    • Administer and resolve all technical maintenance issues
    • Involve all capital improvement projects and organize various performance appraisals and recommend training programs as per requirement.
    • Actively utilise SAP and the work management system to ensure maintenance work orders and defects are accurately recorded and information is correct and up to date.
    • Perform regular audit and resolve all safety control programs within the process plant.
    • Efficiently train Mechanical supervisors and technicians and prepare all short/long term programs and ensure achievement of all objectives with required budget.
    • Collaborate with various departments to maintain mechanical integrity of all plant programs.
    • Analyze all equipment requirements and assist in requisition of all tools and equipment.
    • Review and recommend improvements of all SOP procedures and perform troubleshoot on all plant activities and resolve all issues and assist facilities manager to implement all changes.
    • Liaise with supervisors to administer the maintenance of all process plant asset including Crushers, Conveyor Systems, Pumps, Pipe Work, SAG Mills, Ball Mill, Vibrating Screens & Feeders, Cranes & Hoists, Cyclones, Compressors, Blowers, tailings and all associated Tanks, Launders and Steelworks.
    • Supervise the installation of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment.
    • Ensure that all new installations comply with relevant AGA Standards.
    • Assist with shutdown co-ordination and execution.
    • Monitor costs within the department so to keep within the allocated budget
    • Assist in delivering engineering services to meet the standards and requirements of relevant governmental agencies

     
    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Process Plant Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

    • Strong management and leadership skills will be an advantage
    • Financial, commercial and project management through work experience and courses.

     
    Experience 

    • An experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with a minimum of seven (7) years’ relevant experience in, preferably Gold Process Plant maintenance
    • Experience in management of Maintenance and Repair Contracts (MARC) and Plant Shutdown Maintenance
    • Experience working in environments with noise, dust, elevated work areas, confined work areas, extremes of temperature, water, slurry.
    • Knowledge of SAP PM module.
    • Experience in management and QA/QC on contractor work

     
    Legal Requirements

    • Must possess at least Sectional Engineer’s Certificate of Competency from Minerals Commission of Ghana.
    • Professional Certificated Engineer with a relevant certification body will be an advantage (e.g., Ghana Institution of Engineers)

    Accounts Officer - Governance & Compliance

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT:

    • With the commencement of the project in sight, this key resource is urgently needed to be in place so as to help in all the set ups. Moreover, some of the required SAP control requires that invoices to be validated and processed separately.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Assist to develop appropriate systems and processes for planning, reporting, monitoring and evaluation and risk management
    • Conduct effective assurance reviews that contribute to the effective and efficient performance and maturity of the disciplines
    • Help manage the closure of deficiencies
    • Assist to manage the control self-assessment on general finance controls (“GFC”)
    • Contribute to the identification of risks within area of responsibilities and recommend possible mitigating interventions
    • Liaise with external and internal audit where so assigned to
    • Maintain statistic reporting requirements and delivering quarterly updates (Dashboards)
    • Schedule, coordinate and facilitate quarterly meetings for the audit committee meetings
    • Assist control owners on a quarterly basis to compile SOX evidence following online assessment
    • Ensure that SOX evidence is on file for audit purposes
    • Co-ordinate SOX updates (maintenance) and communicate control changes to SOX Compliance office
    • Co-ordinate the completion of the SOX Compliance 302 certification and sign off by Finance Manager and General Manager.
    • Co-ordinate the resolution of audit findings and provide management action to AGA corporate office for review and closure.
    • Align mine site policy and procedures to AGA corporate policies and procedures
    • Being the focal point, liaise with various corporate groups (such as Risk and Governance, Integrated Operations, Information Systems, and Supply) to plan for and facilitate any required activities across the site; this includes incident investigation, risk assessments and risk management actions.
    • Assist to oversee Risk Information Management Systems and processes on site
    • Facilitate the use of appropriate risk management methodologies, tools and techniques on site.
    • Help to implement overall risk management process for Obuasi mine consistent with AGA corporate risk management framework and processes
    • Assist sites functional units in developing risk mitigation strategies for critical risks and monitoring these risks 

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • A degree in Accounting, HND (Accounting option) or ICAG Part 2 qualification.

    Experience 

    • At least 3 - 4 years’ experience in a mining environment.
    • Must be computer literate with significant proficiency in Spreadsheets

    Cost Accountant

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    • The purpose of the Cost Accountant role is to provide direct support to the Management Accountant for the Obuasi Mine operations, to help coordinate the preparation of departmental budgets and ensure timely reporting of departmental cost and performance reports.
    • The role also entails working closely with the Support Services (G&A) departmental heads to ensure timely and proactive flagging of any cost anomalies and deviations for corrective immediate action.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Coordinate the preparation of the Annual Operating Cost and Capital Expenditure budgets for the support services areas.
    • Set up system to track:
    • Cost of materials from stores, direct materials and petty cash purchases.
    • Cost of labour
    • Contracts
    • Other costs
    • Prepare Cost Report for the departmental Managers.
    • Design and implement standardized cost reporting templates where possible
    • Exercise over-all cost control in the Manager’s area.
    • Prepare Variance Analysis report on cost performance for the departmental Managers and the Sectional heads.
    • Draw the area Manager’s attention to anomalies.
    • Draw the area Manager’s attention to problem areas.
    • Make projections for the operations Managers where over-runs are expected, and the effect of this on profitability.
    • Monitor Direct Material indents (DMI). This involves checking whether budget exists, and if no budgets exist, whether the item should be procured all the same. If ordered against no budget, this should be included in the projections.
    • Reconcile all Provision and accrual Accounts.
    • Look at ways to improve the overall support services department budgeting process
    • Compile departmental budgets to one detail cost budget for the entire mine site (Obuasi Mine)
    • Prepare analysis to management for more understanding of business plan and Life of Mine (LOM)
    • Review the budget files from HODs and communicate to them if there are any issues
    • Update the escalations and other assumptions from CAR Finance
    • Participate in the TM1 and other training
    • Participate in the discussion with the TM1 team in any matter arising
    • Review the completeness and validity of the material valuation class mapping in SAP
    • Provide answers or comments to support the Monthly HFM pack notes
