    Junior Finance Specialist

    Scope Of Role

    • The incumbent will provide support services in accordance with GIZ policy and standards; financial administration regulations and internal controls are complied with. The Ideal candidate must come with the desire to establish themselves in a modern and global organization.

    Tasks

    • Ensuring that financial administration functions are perform well in accordance with GIZ standard procedures
    • Preparing cheques, bank transfers and deposits at the bank (when necessary)
    • Calculates national and international travel claims.
    • Financial planning, monitoring, and accounting for GIZ-assisted projects
    • Giving advice to the projects, business partner and counterparts
    • Monitors income, expenditure, and the monthly bank reconciliation
    • Reconciles the cash book and cash account daily
    • Processes settlement of applications for the reimbursement of travel expenses.
    • Checks unexpected entries in the cash book.
    • Carries out internal controls, - both checklist and monthly error sheets as yearly internal controls of projects- in accordance with GIZs internal controlling manual.
    • Checks the vouchers and receipts submitted by the projects/programmes for completeness and allocation to cost units and categories and corrects these where necessary.
    • Carries out accounting tasks using WINPACCS accounting software and prepares monthly end-of-period accounts and bank reconciliation vouchers.
    • Submits the end-of-month accounts from the project accounting, cash books and account balance vouchers (through or from WINPACCS) to the officer responsible for the contract and cooperation and forwards them to GIZ Head Office.
    • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management

    Qualification Required & Experience

    • University Degree in BA/BSc Accounting, Auditing, or similar area
    • Minimum of 1-2 years’ work experience with a focus on accounting administration in a comparable position.
    • In-depth knowledge of accounting software
    • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications. (e.g. MS Office)
    • Confidential handling of data and information
    • Very good knowledge on the English language, ideally a knowledge of German
    • Proactive attitude towards personnel and institutional changes
    • Team player
    • Result orientated performance
    • Good communication skills
    • Willingness to update skills as required by the tasks to be performed- corresponding measures are agreed with management

    Finance Specialist

    Project Brief

    • A key element of national development agenda of Ghana is creating new and better jobs for a growing young generation. The intervention of areas of the Sustainable Economic Development in Ghana (PSED) program: Support to the reform in the Technical Vocational Training sector (TVET), Financial System Development (FSD), implementation of Migration and Employment Promotion (MEP) and support for digitization (DIGIT) contribute to this endeavor by improving the conditions for creation of decent and productive employment

    Scope Of Role

    • The Finance Specialist will be responsible for providing support in ensuring that financial and administrative regulations are complied with.

    Tasks

    • Ensuring that financial administration functions are perform well in accordance with GIZ standard procedures.
    • Ensures that information is exchanged between project/programme staff, partners, and other institutions.
    • Prepares commercial eligibility check (KEP) on partner institutions
    • Prepares onboarding for consultants and financing agreement implementing partners.
    • Supports the preparation of internal controls and external audits.
    • Responsible for cash based on the vouchers collected daily and reconciles the cash book and cash account daily.
    • Supports in administering and maintaining the filing system according to GIZ procedures and adherence to confidentiality.
    • Supports in the preparation Of Business Trips, Arrange National Flights, Conferences, And Workshops (National/International)
    • Carries out accounting procedures using WINPACCS bankbook and cashbook software, balancing both books periodically, always prepared for both regular and unannounced cash counts and bank reconciliation statements.
    • Reports without delay, to the person responsible for accounting & finance, all problems in financial administration and compliance with rules.

    Qualification Required & Experience

    • University Degree in BA/BSc Accounting, Finance, or similar area
    • Minimum of 1-3 years’ work experience with a focus on accounting and administration.
    • Good working experience in IT-based accounting programs
    • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. Ms office)
    • Strong command of the English language (both written and oral) is required; knowledge of German language is an asset.
    • Proactive attitude towards personal growth and institutional changes
    • Good interpersonal, management and communication skills
    • Rendering result-oriented performance
    • willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
