    Legal & Compliance Head

    Role Overview

    • The legal and compliance Lead will  oversee the  provision of  legal advice on business matters, such as patents, contracts, labor agreements, regulatory measures, taxation, and intellectual property rights.
    • The role will be focused on  researching cases, drafting contracts, developing diverse corporate procedures, managing budgets, ensuring regulatory compliance, drafting codes of conduct, litigating course cases, and protecting the reputation and assets of the company. 


    Responsibilities 
    Compliance

    • Lead the drafting, preparation  and review of all business contracts, agreements to ensure compliance with all required laws and protection of the Company's best interest.
    • Acts as a source of expert current knowledge of all legal, ethics & compliance programs and supports the development of an effective and pragmatic compliance culture
    • Initiates a communication program that ensures a clear understanding of legal compliance standards required of individuals conducting high risk activities in Farmerline’s business
    • Assess level of compliance with established policies, procedures and standards, across the organization as well as adequacy of internal controls within business, financial processes and operations
    • Research and analyze the laws, regulations, policies, and rules that govern Farmerline’s work in Ghana and other areas of operation.
       

    Policies and Procedures

    • Lead in drafting internal policies that ensure external compliance.
    • Performs proactive risk assessment to identify business processes in the country and advise on which may represent a risk for the company, with an emphasis on financial, business controls and efficient business processes.
    • In consultation with department managers develop and implement strategies to manage risks.
    • Coordinate with all functions in identifying, developing and implementing improvements in response to legal requirements, legislation changes and company policy requirements
       

    Reporting

    • Responsible for reporting and escalating risks, legal issues and best practices. 
    • Develop and maintain a risk assessment matrix while running a quarterly analysis of vulnerabilities and risks and implementing corrective actions.
       

    Others

    • Act as custodian of key corporate legal documents
    • Provide guidance, upon request and need, for any new area of operation.
    • Build and maintain relationships with Farmerline’s external legal partnerships
    • Provide legal advice and assistance to management in relation to all legal requirements for key areas such as  contracting , permitting, employment and environment.
    • You may be required to take up other duties and responsibilities as and when required.


    Required Qualifications

    • Graduate degree in Law
    • Must be called to the Ghana Bar 
    • Professional background, with at least three years’ experience in practicing Law.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience at work, or outside of work.
    • Excellent communication skills and proficient writing and presentation skills.
    • Proven ability to drive projects from start to finish with minimal supervision
    • Good interpersonal relationship with  key regulators and stakeholders
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex compliance issues

    Input Sales Head

    Role Overview

    • The supply of quality farm inputs and providing a market for smallholders  is fundamental to Farmerline’s interventions to smallholder farmers.
    • The Input Sales Head will be responsible for the sourcing of quality farm inputs and deliver them promptly through farmer based organization and agrovets, building sales and referrals in the Agribusiness industry through a targeting/prospecting plan and its successful execution.
    • He/She would work with other members of the Farmerline team  to generate revenue for the business through input sales across various channels and ensuring proper documentation of all operations.


    Responsibilities 

    • Drive Farmerline’s strategy to improve farmers access to and use of agro-inputs on a large-scale, at an affordable cost and in a sustainable way
    • Research and target account based on business opportunities and potential markets
    • Drive effective negotiations with governments and donor agencies involved with developing strategies for input supply, including subsidy schemes, with a view to minimizing the distortional effects of subsidy schemes
    • Establish and grow relationships with existing clients while building out the client referral program to expand into new clients
    • Spearhead meetings with prospective clients, working to understand their current challenges, desires and needs
    • Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction
    • Contribute to the development and execution of pricing and promotion/business development strategies
    • Sell direct to early adopter channels throughout Ivory Coast
    • Support extensive training, financing, and collaboration with both wholesale and retail agro-dealers to build dense, functional networks of input suppliers 
    • Ensure the recovery of input sales revenue from all customers both under instant and credit sales. 
    • Establish and cultivate strong relationships to ensure that all field staff maximize their career performance and job satisfaction as part of Farmerline.
    • Have full oversight into stock purchases and inventory at supplier warehouses and Farmerline warehouses.
    • Measures progress against goals, regularly reports on progress, and holds the team accountable for prioritizing and delivering results in key strategic zones, such as program impact, cost of farmer acquisition, and revenue generated. 
    • Ensure smooth working relationships with partners including but not limited to negotiation, contracting and building long term relationships with them. 
    • Oversee and manage team performance; conduct quarterly reviews so each team member is aware of progress and areas for improvement. 
    • Leverage real time data to make decisions around farmer engagement, inputs sourcing, distribution and sales. 


    Required Qualifications

    • Proven experience as a Input Sales Manager or similar leadership role, 5 years +
    • Leadership and Strategic Thinking abilities
    •  Proven success building high-performing technical teams and working with rapid growth and implementing change
    • Knowledge of technological trends to build strategy

    Commodity Sourcing Manager

    Role Overview

    • Providing market access for smallholders  is fundamental to Farmerline’s interventions to smallholder farmers. In helping smallholder farmers make lasting profits, you'll oversee the purchase of quality commodities, update our inventory strategy, and liaise with suppliers to ensure the stability of our supply chain. 
    • The role of the Head of Commodity Sourcing is to lead on sourcing and sales of commodities.
    • The head would work with other members of the Farmerline team to generate revenue for the business through commodity sales across various channels and ensuring proper documentation of all operations.
    • The key deliverables would be to ensure market access opportunities for commodities produced by smallholder farmers. Importantly, the manager would lead in securing fair prices for smallholder farmers in Farmerline’s network
    • Ultimately, he/she should be able to effectively navigate market risks to help the business reach its commodity goals.


    Responsibilities 

    • Identify, profile and build a detailed national database of commodity suppliers (outgrower businesses, aggregators, nucleus farmers, coops and farmer groups) ahead of supplies.
    • Engage suppliers to aggregate farm produce at the right time while ensuring high quality and reducing post harvest losses.
    • Leverage the Mergdata platform to predict yield, food quality and track produce sourcing.
    • Provide global contract expertise for sourcing of commodities.(maize, soybean etc)
    • Facilitate fair, timely and transparent payments to all farmers/coops supplying to the micro-entrepreneurs and agribusinesses in Farmerline’s network.
    • Work with other team members to build the capacity of suppliers to consistently supply commodities while increasing their business profitability.
    • Integrate successful parts of the market access model into Farmerline’s operations and partnerships across Africa.
    • Lead in aggregating and communicating market price information from major markets to key stakeholders especially farmers in our network.
    • Work with management to devise online and offline marketing strategies best suited for crop marketing goals and objectives
    • Help build and maintain a strong and consistent brand through a wide range of online and offline marketing activities.
    • Study market trends and identify any risks with the  sourcing and procuring of commodities. Devise means to maximize commodity buying efficiency and minimize risks.
    • Leverage knowledge and experience in local and global commodity prices/pricing to negotiate local and international purchase orders.
    • Plans all crop marketing operations to ensure timely delivery of all purchase orders received in the required quality and quantities.
    • Stay abreast with key market trends and intelligence with the ability to seek new business opportunities and formulate strategies to capitalize on growing the business
    • Coordinates the procurement of all off-taking and market-related logistics including storage and transportation.
    • Develop impactful, cost effective and scalable market access models for all major crops produced in Ivory Coast.
    • Collaborates with other units to ensure all farmers receive adequate training, agro-inputs and prompt digital payments
    • Preserve and promote company standards by building a strong and self-sufficient commodity supply base.


    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural science, Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management or related courses.
    • Knowledge of the systemic challenges in agriculture value chains in Ivory Coast, a passion for creating lasting solutions to them and ability to navigate farming communities.
    • Project management skills and the ability to create and stick to timeliness.
    • 4-5 years of working experience in crop marketing/crop sourcing in Ivory Coast with experience cashew, among other major crops in Ivory Coast. 
    • Strong research and field  experience in  coffee is required

    Communications & PR Associate

    Role Overview

    • As a Communications and PR Associate, you will work closely with your line manager on the development and execution of Farmerline’s communications, marketing and PR strategy.
    • You will be tasked with effectively promoting the business and mission of Farmerline both internally and externally; helping to manage the company’s brand through media planning, content development, communications tools, brand positioning, reputation management and handling media enquiries and by extension, social media engagement.
    • This involves working synergistically with the Digital, Creative and BTL teams to execute the company’s marketing initiatives.
    • You will also work closely with other units including Farmer Services, Impact & Learning and Corporate Services to develop and execute marketing strategies with the aim of reaching the company’s quarterly and annual goals.

    Data Scientist

    Role Overview

    • As part of business growth and expansion, Farmerline is looking for a Data Scientist, who will be required to analyze information to predict patterns that will help to build data products to extract valuable insights for the business units in the company.
    • The ideal candidate will support the sales and marketing units as well as the engineering and Farmer Services units with insights gained from analyzing company data to develop solutions and products, marketing strategies and techniques.
    • In this role, you should be highly analytical with interest and expertise in analysis and statistics. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are key to this role as business units will be developing strategies and plans based on your data analysis and insights.


    Responsibilities 

    • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
    • Analyze industry information and data to discover trends and patterns to inform business decision making.
    • Work with the various units within the organization to develop algorithms to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to develop commercial products, improve existing sales/marketing strategies and techniques.

    Senior Product Designer

    Role Overview

    • The Senior Product Designer will work with the product and engineering teams to distill complex problems into simple, innovative and engaging user experiences.
    • They must have an eye for functional design and possess technical skills to distill high-level concepts and ideas into concrete high-fidelity designs. 


    Responsibilities 

    • Partner with other product designers, product managers, and engineers to define problems and goals, map user flows, prototype interactions, and create new features and products

    Role Overview

    • The hire will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our databases and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross-functional teams.

    • Implements processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it.
    • Performs data analysis required to troubleshoot data-related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues.
    • Works closely with a team of frontend and backend engineers, product managers, and analysts.
    • Designs data integrations and data quality framework.
    • Designs and evaluates open source and vendor tools for data lineage.
    • Works closely with all business units and engineering teams to develop a strategy for long term data platform architecture


    Required Qualifications

    • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
    • 2+ years of Python & Java development experience
    • 3+ years of SQL experience (No-SQL experience is a plus)
    • 3+ years of experience with schema design and dimensional data modelling
    • Ability to manage and communicate data warehousing plans to internal stakeholders
    • Experience designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems
    • 2+ years of experience working with Azure and other cloud technologies
    • Experience with Hadoop, Apache Airflow and Spark is a plus

    • Experience with version control systems
    • Familiarity with OOP design principles

    Product Manager

    Role Overview

    • Farmerline is looking for a Product Manager  responsible for creating and iterating on a variety of products that will serve our clients and allow our business to scale.
    • You will be expected to work closely with business and product stakeholders to seek out new ideas that solve real problems for our clients.
    • This role requires strong and proactive leadership and the ability to independently drive initiatives that require cross-functional collaboration.


    You will

    • Work closely with internal stakeholders in assessing their needs and define product or process requirements
    • Effectively coordinate between engineers, product managers and stakeholders to build tools and processes that empower teams to execute with efficiency
    • Manage each product from start to finish
    • Own the prioritized roadmap, including clear established milestones
    • Manage backlog of features and enhancements, and communicate timing and status to internal teams
    • Define and maintain KPIs to monitor impact of projects on productivity and the overall business


    You should be

    • An experienced Product Manager (2+ years) or have equivalent experience
    • Experienced with roadmap creation and the prioritization of multiple projects
    • Experienced with  defining product specifications and managing the execution of those with engineering through agile processes.
    • Able to Demonstrate experience launching products that drive business impact
    • Excellent with written and verbal communication
    • Able to convert client needs into actionable technical requests
    • Able to demonstrate proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and coordinate efforts across multiple teams
    • Adept at prioritization, even in the face of multiple conflicting projects
    • Experienced with UX and Wireframing.
    • Experience with UI design and tools is a plus.
