    Electrical Supervisor - Surface Mine Infrastructure (LV)

    AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined. We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Electrical Supervisor - Surface Mine Infrastructure (LV).

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The Electrical Supervisor – Surface Mine Infrastructure (LV) is accountable for the monitoring and control of output of Surface Mine LV Electrical refurbishment to standard, through the application of operational policies, standards, processes and procedures to maximize plant availability in a sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan
    • Gather information for the Electrical Superintendent – Surface Mine Infrastructure for reporting performance
    • Conduct periodic audits of all Surface Mine LV infrastructure during refurbishment, later maintenance
    • Conduct reviews of the refurbishment, later maintenance, of the LV Surface Mine Infrastructure to identify actions for continuous improvement
    • Assist the Electrical Superintendent – Surface Mine Infrastructure to develop condition monitoring routes and checks for infrastructure equipment;
    • Execute refurbishment, later maintenance, work checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, vibration data collection, infrared data collection, ultrasonic data collection, motor current and flux data collection, simple NDT data collection;
    • Analyze and trend predictive maintenance data (vibration, IR, etc.) to determine plant condition and report this condition for action;
    • Monitor general physical condition of plant assets and report
    • Monitor preventive and corrective actions as necessary;
    • Generate work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment/maintenance planning and scheduling
    • Ensure routine condition monitoring tasks are performed on all the rotating equipment by data collection using advanced portable data collectors and other tools according to the established schedules and also as per the plant requirements.
    • Gather information on vibration & other data collected in order to diagnose / troubleshoot rotating machinery problems. 
    • Actively participate in maintenance review programmes and Root Cause Failure Analysis process of LV Electrical equipment as per requirements.
    • Identify, communicate, and implement potential cost reduction initiatives
    • Propose cost savings projects
    • Execute work in a timely manner; coordinate refurbishment work contractors to time plan, escalate real or potential delays
    • Monitor equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to address symptoms of potential failure.
    • Report directly to the Superintendent on issues and identify and execute improvement projects
    • Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Maintenance Supervision, or equivalent
    • Financial, commercial and project management through work experience and courses.

    Experience

    • An experienced LV Electrical maintenance Supervisor with 5+ years’ experience in, preferably, Mine Infrastructure maintenance
    • Experience in management of Maintenance and Repair Contracts management (MARC) 
    • Experience in Project Management
    • Knowledge of SAP PM module

    Legal Requirements

    • Must possess Supervisory Managers Certificate of Competency from Mineral Commission of Ghana
    • Professional Certificated Supervisor with a relevant certification body

    Technical Competencies

    • Strong Electrical maintenance competencies in mining and/or extractive metallurgy environment
    • Sound project management skills
    • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems.

    Winder Engine Driver

    AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Winder Engine Driver.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The Winder Engine Driver is accountable for operating hoists and cage winders compliant with LI2182, safely, in accordance with other compliance requirements, operational and standards, systems and procedures to maximise plant availability in a compliant, safe, sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work according to total quality management principles & ensure zero defect objectives & safety
    • Operate / Drive Winder (Man & Rock) in Compliance with LI2182 (Adansi - 3, GCS-3, BSVS-3, KMS-3, KRS-3)
    • Conduct periodic audits of all Winding equipment in area of operation and report 
    • Identify actions for continuous improvement and that operability to requirements is ensured
    • Organize information for the Senior Winder Driver to allow development of condition monitoring routes and checks for infrastructure equipment;
    • Execute daily work checks on a routine scheduled basis. This include visual checks, motor current and flux data collection 
    • Report any anomalies to Senior Winder Driver for the generation of work requests in SAP as required for refurbishment/ maintenance planning and scheduling
    • Carry out daily pre-start and/or shift handover checks and complete check sheets as required according to the established schedules and also per plant requirements.
    • Complete shift short interval control sheets as required
    • Monitor operating parameters on the integrated control system and take corrective action as indicated or required
    • Log monitored equipment performance on asset health system and take proactive measures to register and escalate symptoms of potential failure to Senior Winder Driver
    • Stop equipment from working if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used and report to Senior Winder Driver

    • An experienced Winder Driver with 5+ years’ experience in underground mining

    Underground Supervisor

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Underground Supervisor.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The purpose of the role is a mandatory requirement to enable safe implement mining strategies, and procedures to identify shortfalls in mine operations.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Ensure Workplace safety – Ensure  strict adherence to the Mining Regulations and Company instructions in respect of safety, and security at all work places under the section to improve productivity
    • Improve productivity – Institute strategies to improve performance by instructing workers to meet general and specific work standards and report  any variations
    • Sectional Auditing and Monitoring – Offer schedules in consultations with the sectional mine captain and institute monitor and auditing programs to eliminate threats of Mine flooding and inadvertent collapsing of major excavations
    • Material management – Ensure that all materials are well kept and their usage are well documented

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • BSc. / Diploma degree in Mining Engineering

    Experience

    • 2 years of post-graduation experience in underground development, and open stope mining

    Management Accountant – Process Plant

    AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Management Accountant - Process Plant.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The purpose of this role is to ensure that the Process Plant costs and performance are adequately and timely captured and reported for decision making by assisting to monitor, and reports and give advice on planning, measurement and performance management systems.  This will ensure that the managers are supplied with cost management data to make reliable decisions about financial controls.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Establish the necessary Management Accounting processes and practices for the redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine, including Operational Readiness
      • Develop the Management Accounting team recruitment specifically driving the localization aims of the mine.
      • Map key internal stakeholder relationships and value with relevant management routines (communication, touchpoints, key meetings)
    • Provide unequivocal planning data to enable the quarterly updates of the rolling 18-month plan to be produced on time.
      • Prepared Management Accounting data aligned to defined quality assurance expectations
      • Timely assessments of Management Accounting processes data
      • Conclusions with accurate information and analysis
    • Develop the annual Management Accounting cost center budget to achieve the required targets for achieving annual, medium-term and Life of Mine (LoM) business plans
      • Liaise with other departmental heads and their key resources to put the budget guidelines - financial and operational requirements - into context
      • Provide support service to departmental heads and their key resources on updating their budget templates and ensure that the inputs are realistic and submitted on time.
      • Consolidate departmental budgets for management review
      • Participate in budget review meetings with each HOD/ Finance Manager/ Head of Operations/MD.
      • Prepare consolidated budget and business plan report for input into HFM pack
    • Deliver the work of the Management Accounting function within approved budget targets and specified timeframes, costs and related KPIs
      • Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of accounts: Fuel, Contract accrual, Labour cost accrual before month end close activities are finalized.
      • Review the transactions in the financial database to ensure there is reliable and relevant cost data to generate reports for management decision making.
      • Liaise with other team members to ensure that all necessary operating and capital expenditures are accurately and timely captured into the General Ledger system each reporting period.

    • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with Internal Stakeholders (Corporate, Group Planning & Technical, sister mines, etc.) and external Stakeholders (Regulatory Agencies and Authorities, Minerals Commission) to establish existing and changing societal and regulatory expectations and requirements

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • A post graduate degree in business would be an added advantage
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a qualified Chartered Accountant

    Experience

    • 3 – 6 years financial management post qualification experience preferably within the mining industry, of which at least 5 years should have been at a senior management level.
    • Experience and understanding of total mining cycle.
    • Full knowledge and experience in the application of the Ghana Taxation laws.
