    Assistant Director

    •  The Assistant Director is under the direction of the Director and the Board of Management of the institute
    •  He/She is the deputy chief executive of the institute
    •  The Assistant Director should, therefore have the the requisite qualifications and experience, a clear understanding of language education and its direction, and be capable of assisting the Director and Management of the institute towards achieving its goals

    Qualification Required & Experience

    The suitable candidate must

    •  Be a Ghanaian citizen
    •  Be a PhD holder in a language related area with a minimum of 5 years of teaching and research experience in a reputable tertiary institution. Professional status would be an added advantage
    •  Have mastery of the English language, both oral and written
    •  Must be fluent in at least any 1 other modern languages, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish
    •  Have senior management position experience, have an enquiring and innovative mind
    •  Have knowledge of the committee system of administration in tertiary institutions

    Terms of Appointment

    •  To be determined by the Board of Management of GIL in accordance with Act. (NLCD 324 of 1969).
    •  Salary and fringe benefits attached to the post are attractive
    •  Tenure of appointment is 3 years. The successful candidate should be able to serve a full three-year term before the compulsory retirement age of 60. The appointment may be renewed for a further 2 years, subject to satisfactory performance

    Assistant Lecturer

    •  Teach and examine students according to the syllabus released by the institute
    •  Prepare and submit semester reports on students to Head of department / school
    •  Conduct research in the specific subject or area related to the other academic activities of the institute
    •  Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of School / Department

    Qualification Required & Experience

    •  Must possess an MPhil or Researched Master’s Degree in professional Translation. In addition applicant must be a practising translator working with at least 1 of the following languages, Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish in addition to English
    •  Age: Not above 45 years

    Research, Innovation and Publications Officer

    •  Assist staff to write proposals to source for funding (either internally or externally) for research
    •  Disseminate information about research and training opportunities
    •  Organise workshops and seminars on how to plan, conduct, publish and present research results and innovations

    Qualification Required & Experience

    •  Must possess a PhD in a language related field
    •  He or She must have at least 5 years teaching experience
    •  Must have academic and administrative leadership experience
    •  Working knowledge in a second modern language is required
    •  Should be computer literate

    Assistant Registrar/Admin Officer (Administration)

    • Shall assist the Head of Department in all administrative, secretarial, human resource development and matters of the institute
    •  Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of Department

    Qualification Required & Experience

    •  A second degree in Education Administration, Management Studies or Human Resource Management and its related fields from a recognised tertiary institution
    •  At least 2 years post-qualification work experience in a comparable position
    •  Should be computer literate
    •  Working knowledge of French shall be an advantage

     Age: Not above 40 years

    Driver Grade I

    •  Driving
    •  Ensure that all vehicles are road worthy
    •  Any other duties assigned by the Head of School

    Qualification Required & Experience

    •  Must possess valid Driving Licence D
    •  3 BECE passes. GCE “O” Level / SSSCE/WASSCE certificate shall be an advantage
    •  Age: Not above 40 years
