    Welder/Fabricator

    Main Purpose of Appointment:

    Construction of implements, machines and repair/alterations of existing vehicles, equipment and implements

    Functions of Appointment:

    • Manufacture implements and equipment
    • Repair existing implements and equipment
    • Repair vehicles and maintenance
    • Help fellow workshop staff with maintenance if applicable
    • Workshop housekeeping
    • Adhere to company policies on occupational health, safety and environmental issues
    • Perform any other activities/functions assigned by the Workshop Supervisor, Technical manager

    JOB HOLDER SPECIFICATION

    Formal Education:

    National Vocational Technical Institute – Welding certificate or equivalent/higher qualification

    Experience:

    • At least 5 years technical/practical welding and fabrication experience
    • 8 years experience

    Personal qualities and competencies:

    • Deliver quality service
    • Respond to requests and inquiries from drivers/operators and line management effectively and timeously
    • Work independently in the absence of supervision
    • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
    • Understanding of occupational health, safety and environmental issues

    Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Bell and Track Mechanic)

    Main Purpose of Appointment:

    • Supervise service and maintenance of vehicles and heavy equipment
    • Record keeping of service and maintenance
    • Active service mechanic and CAT mechanic

    Functions of Appointment:

    • Service and repair labour trucks.
    • Service and repair tractors and heavy equipment i.e. dozers, graders etc.
    • Service and repair of staff vehicles i.e. pick-ups.
    • Workshop housekeeping
    • Care for Workshop equipment and tools.
    • Reporting of problems and incidents concerning vehicles and equipment to Senior Mechanic Manager/Senior Silviculture Forester/General Manager

    JOB HOLDER SPECIFICATION

    Formal Education;

    • Polytechnic certificate in mechanical or motor engineering or equivalent

    Computer knowledge i.e. Microsoft office, internet

    Experience;

    • At least 5 years experience in the repair and servicing of heavy equipment and vehicles.
    • Experience in service scheduling and maintenance records
    • 8 Years working experience is required

    Personal qualities and competencies:

    • Ability to diagnose technical problems and rectify
    • Deliver quality service
    • Perform records management
    • Work independently in the absence of supervision
    • Respond to requests and inquiries from drivers/operators and line management effectively and timeously
    • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
    • Understand occupational health, safety and environmental issues

    Auto Electrician

    Main Purpose of Appointment:

    • Electrical repair of vehicle
    • Equipment wiring systems

    Functions of Appointment:

    • Repair electrical wiring problems
    • Repair lighting systems on vehicles and equipment
    • Repair of relevant electrical systems; i.e. wipers, horns, electric windows, electrical speedometers
    • Help fellow workshop staff with maintenance when necessary
    • Workshop housekeeping
    • Adhere to company policy on occupational health, safety and environmental issues

    JOB HOLDER SPECIFICATION

    Formal Education:

    • National Vocational Training Institute- Certificate, Trade Test Grade one – Auto Electrician 2000 or equivalent/higher qualification

    Experience:   

    • At least 5 years’ experience in vehicle and heavy equipment /machinery electrical system diagnosis and repairs
    • Auto Electricians with 8 years working experience

    Personal qualities and competencies:

    • Ability to trace fault and diagnose electrical problems
    • Deliver quality service
    • Work independently in the absence of supervision
    • Respond to requests and inquiries from supervisors effectively and timeously
    • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
