    Security Integrated Systems Officer

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    To manage the technical support and ensure availability (maintenance of existing systems / installation of new systems and peak performance of security systems. This role will play critical part in ensuring that the security management plan is successfully implemented for the redevelopment of the Obuasi mine.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Ensure all equipment / material required to perform duties are in good working order
    • Ensure availability of appropriate levels of essential spares, material and equipment for immediate replacement in event of equipment / system failure or breakdown
    • Implement and maintain a work schedule on equipment and materials for planned maintenance work, regular inspections, daily repairs and service and job assignment
    • Liaise with Systems Administrator, other departments / clients on request and feedback on specific new installations, equipment and materials
    • Ensure availability for afterhours call out on equipment / system failure or breakdown
    • Ensure confidentiality is maintained on all password information change
    • Work in close co-operation with the Systems Administrator to ensure that the system functions at optimal efficiency and that upgrades, special and maintenance work is properly scheduled and implemented according to standard
    • Strive to ensure 100% system availability and utilization of all systems
    • Install special installations on request when and where needed
    • Ensure that availability of effective radio/repeater communication
    • Maintain work schedules as required for the functionality and maintenance of the main control room and plan
    • Maintain inventory listing of all equipment and materials in GSIMS / Plant, equipment rooms, technicians office, workshops and store room
    • Maintain relevant logbooks and registers pertaining to the job
    • Work and liaise in close co-operation with the System Administrator on equipment / system faults reported, ensure that faulty equipment register is maintained
    • Ensure that communication with all colleagues and with stakeholders is professional at all times
    • Identify and report all Safety and Health hazards
    • Adhere to all safety and health regulations within the work place
    • Promote safety and health in the workplace with a view of zero tolerance

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science or a Diploma in Systems Software.

    Experience 

    • Three (3) to Five (5) years’ Security Systems experience or other technical exposure
    • Experience and skilled knowledge in investigations will be an advantage

    Technical Competencies

    • Completed Electrical Competency requirements;
    • Basic knowledge of Electronics
    • Must have knowledge of the laws of Ghana and legal codes

    Plant Operator

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Plant Operator.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The purpose of the role is to monitor, control and adjust the section in which they are operational, under the supervision and authorization of the Sectional Leads, so as to fulfill the operating purpose of the section for the shift.

    The operators are responsible for controlling and recording various parameters such as tonnage throughput, temperatures, slurry density, reagent mixing and dosing.  This role is being augmented with a SCADA system which aids the operator in many of these functions.  The Plant Operator, in conjunction with the Control Room Operator, must understand the current plant situation, compare it to a desired situation and be able to adjust or control the plant to either return to optimum performance or be maintained in the optimum state.

    The plant operators are also reponsible for the housekeeping and are tasked to conduct certain maintenance functions such as checking cyclone measurements and ball loads in the mill.  Housekeeping operations may not be specifically limited to the areas in which the operators are assigned, and the operators may be called upon to assist with housekeeping in any section of the plant or mine as needed.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Actively promote and partake in Health, Safety and Environmental actions and improvements
    • Compliance with Legal Instruments (LI’s) and Codes as laid down by the Republic of Ghana
    • Partaking in and actively driving housekeeping and loss control
    • Constant monitoring and adjustment of plant processes to:
    • Achieve Au production targets for the shift
    • Achieve Throughput targets for the shift
    • Minimise downtime
    • Use of plant mechanical and electrical equipment in a manner that protects and prevents unnecessary damage or wear
    • Cost control of production consumables, such as reagents, within the processing budget to limit wasteful expenditure
    • Sampling and sample preparation
    • Reagent mixing and dosing
    • Recording and reporting chemical stock levels to prevent stock outages.
    • Constant assessment and challenging of the status quo to identify and align operations to best practice
    • Prediction of impending process upsets with possible remedies / preventions and in the event of not being able to pre-empt the problem, alerting your supervisor of the troubles in a timeous manner
    • Completing and analyzing shift logsheets

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Senior High School Certificate with strong mathematical understanding

    Experience 

    • 5 – 10 years Gold Plant experience

    Technical Competencies

    • Must be able to record in detail the plant logsheets and reports
    • Must be able to operate equipment safely
    • Must be able to understand and appreciate the hazards associated with chemicals and equipment found within a processing plant.

    Winder Engineer – Electrical

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Winder Engineer – Electrical.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The Winder Engineer is accountable for monitoring and control of quality of maintenance of winding equipment to ensure it is compliant, safe, in accordance with operational and engineering policies, standards, systems and procedures to maximize plant availability in a compliant, safe, sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business’ strategic objective.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Application review of safety standards and work practices for the refurbishment construction and infrastructure workforce to enable the safety targets to be managed and achieved.
    • Application of HSE regulations with zero tolerance to breaches.
    • Safety behaviour demonstration consistent with AGAG’s vision and values.
    • Lead by example to create a safe working environment, where risks are assessed and managed so tasks are performed without risk of injury or harm.
    • Continuous improvement of design and field safety performance.
    • Inspections, audits, JHA, etc. of the Safety Management System delivering compliance
    • Timely investigation of all injuries, illness, and incidents with actions plans developed to prevent recurrences
    • Ensure monitoring and data collection to demonstrate execution of the surface infrastructure aspects of construction, refurbishment and maintenance activities in accordance with the Government of Ghana conditions of approvals and the site’s Environmental Management Plan
    • Environmental-related workplace instruction to any employees
    • Zero reportable environmental incidents, zero compliance breaches and no events requiring public disclosure
    • Investigate process interruptions using ‘Analyse and Improve’ tools
    • Underground Maintenance team processes required to support the role holder in executing the project

    • Recruit and appoint people to role in accordance with AGA policy and localization objectives as directed by the Senior Mining Manager and Deputy Engineering Manager
    • For those AGAG employees who will be part of the continuing operation, prepare and execute training and development plans.
    • Ensure the organization structure is capable of delivering the electrical maintenance strategy
    • Communicate policies and procedures in a manner so as to achieve full understanding and compliance
    • Provide guidance to subordinates in leadership techniques to achieve maximum performance
    • Develop a skills matrix that includes all disciplines and individual achievements
    • Identify skill deficiencies and initiate corrective action
    • For the electrical aspects of following winding work activities, ensure the processes are in place for timely completion of works on: Winding infrastructure equipment by the provision of
      • Electrical subject matter input into the design and constructability process, ensuring safe constructability remains a high priority
      • Electrical advice and guidance to the refurbishment project team on best practice, fit for purpose engineering and construction outcomes to meet approved design specifications
    • Review, approval and sign off of the winding infrastructure items detailed in the Refurbishment Execution Plan and schedule, infrastructure detailed design requirements, detailed testing plans, operational commissioning plans, handover plans, training plans, manuals, records, drawings, specifications and documents issued.
    • Deliver winding requirements consistent with the procurement and contracting strategy, which address the construction time, cost and quality risks.
    • Monitor internal processes that support management of the interface with the EPCM contractor for construction and refurbishment works.
    • Monitor the development of maintenance planning and management outcomes in winding
    • Comply with reporting processes for managing winding equipment installation and refurbishment contractor and the AGAG maintenance workforce to deliver works that meet cost, schedule and quality expectations consistent with the scope and quality contained in the Feasibility Study within area of accountability.
    • Proactively control the refurbishment process to avoid potential project cost and schedule overruns.
    • Control winding refurbishment priorities within a dynamic environment, whilst maintaining safety, budget, schedule and quality targets.
    • Communicate accurate and timely construction schedule delivery, progress, cost and quality information in the area of accountability
    • Design and put in place reporting structure to provide major inputs to Maintenance Manager – UG to allow reporting of Operational Readiness for the winding operations.
    • Monitor the compliant completion of the winding aspects of the Operational Readiness plan for the mining teams including localisation plan.
    • Engage and develop appropriately skilled, capable and experienced personnel in the area of accountability.
    • Use the systems for the winding department to provide effective planning of work, efficient and safe work practices, monitoring of performance and promote continuous improvement.
    • Verify the standard of work of the maintenance of the winding equipment during the Phase1 & 2 Operations.
    • Monitor and ensure the work carried out by the underground maintenance team on the winding equipment is of a standard that is compliant, supports the operational requirements of the equipment and is at optimum cost
    • Identify sub-standard work practices, identify root cause and eliminate by corrective action.
    • Task subordinates in line with achieving the agreed production plan
    • Work with the team of engineers to specify, design, analyze and verify new components and systems.
    • Implement corporate programs, e.g. asset management strategies, System for People, Operational Effectiveness, etc across areas of control.
    • Deploy management routines to identify defects in the workplace

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
    • Masters’ Degree in Management will be an advantage
    • Financial, commercial and project management through work experience and courses

    Experience 

    • An experienced Winder Operations Manager/Engineer with over 10 years’ experience in underground mining
    • Experience in management of Maintenance and Repair Contracts (MARC)
    • Experience in Project Management
    • Knowledge of SAP PM module

    Legal Requirements

    • Must possess Engineering Managers Certificate of Competence from Mineral Commission of Ghana Or Winder
    • Operations Engineer Certificate or Similar – issued by the Government of Ghana or an international certificate valid in Ghana.
    • Professional Certificated Engineer with a relevant certification body

    Technical Competencies

    • Strong Winder Operations competencies in underground mining
    • Sound project management skills
    • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
    • Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause major problems.
    • Commercially astute and able to work effectively with third parties.
    • Legally astute with respect to project delivery and maintenance systems
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel
    • Must be able to communicate about technical issues both orally and in writing
    • Knowledge in AGA standards
    • Knowledge in OEM legalities and mining regulations
    • Demonstrated understanding of good Supervisory practices and the implementation of proactive maintenance strategies

    Electrical Technician – Process Plant

    We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Electrical Technician – Process Plant.

    ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

    The Electrical Technician – Process Plant  reports to the Electrical Supervisor – Process Plant and is accountable for executing all types of plant electrical maintenance as required and tasked covering day/night shift in a safe and compliant manner as instructed during refurbishment, later maintenance, of the Process Plant.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work compliantly with the requirement of Government of Ghana Agencies, environmental, health & safety legislation and AGAG regulation
    • Accept personal responsibility for his own health and safety and that of every mine worker affected by his work
    • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan
    • Interface with Contractors as directed and/or Construction teams regarding electrical work tasks for refurbishment works and planned works that support the overall work plan, schedule and expectations.
    • Attend training, development and performance improvement training as required
    • Execute electrical refurbishment and maintenance work items as tasked – compliant and in accordance with all relevant regulations from Government of Ghana and AGAG
    • Execute daily pre-start checks of equipment/tools prior to leaving workshop. Escalate and report any anomalies
    • Assess all equipment required for completion of the tasked work, create checklist and transport all tools necessary for task completion
    • Recognize any machine, equipment or crane operation anomalies that would indicate requirements for maintenance, report and escalate.
    • Provide data and information to support the Maintenance Planner to close out work orders in SAP on completion of the tasked work for all process plant and equipment refurbishment and maintenance activities.
    • Execute work in a timely manner
    • Carry out work cost effectively
    • Operate all equipment within the safe working environment.
    • Stop equipment operation if there exists a high risk or unsafe to be used

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Qualification

    • Secondary education level
    • Certificate of successful completion of respected electrical trade apprenticeship (example: City and Guilds).

    Experience 

    • Five (5) years of experience of post-apprenticeship work in an electrical trade
    • Familiarity with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulation

    Technical Competencies

    • Fully literate and numerate
    • Fully competent in electrical trade
