    Occupational Health and Safety Officer

    Job Description

    • Miro Forestry Ghana Limited is a sustainable forestry plantation developer and manufacturer of timber products.
    • The company has its offices located at Drobonso, sekyere Afram Plains District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, with plantations near Agogo and Mampong. We are currently seeking: Occupational Health and Safety Officer


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    •  Design and develop an occupational health & safety management plan (OHSMP)
    •  Actively work towards the company’s achievement of FSC certification
    •  Health and safety management system
    •  Incident, accident and near Miss Management
    •  Road safety Management
    •  Actively work towards the company’s full compliance with the international labour organisation (ILO) guidelines
    •  Engage regularly with relevant stakeholders and train employees on OHS issue 
    •   Management and leadership


    Qualification Required & Experience

    •  A degree in environmental science, forestry management, safety management or a related field. A Master’s Degree would be an added advantage
    •  A minimum of 3 years post qualification work experience in a similar role and industry

    •  A minimum of 3 years post qualification work experience in a similar role and industry


    Personal qualities and competencies

    •  The position requires a dynamic and responsible individual with a strong interest in international health and safety standards
    •  The individual must be self-motivated and team oriented, able to work independently and committed to responsible forest stewardship
    •  Knowledge of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), as well as international finance cooperation (IFC-Guidance Note/Performance Standard and all enactments relating to best OHS management practices
    •  Good communication skills in English and Twi
    •  Proficiency with MS Office is absolutely essential
    •  Experience with project planning software would be an added advantage
    •  Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written communications, sound presentation, analytical and computer skills.
