• Abide by all the Twelve Golden Rules concerning safety
• Financial Statement Preparation
• Responsible for the preparation and publication/filing of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statement in compliance with IFRS and local regulations (Securities and Exchange Commission & Ghana Stock Exchange regulations)
• Responsible for the preparation of both audited and un-audited annual consolidated financial statement
• Responsible for the preparation and publication of quarterly Total Group Consolidation Accounting Package (CAP)
• Taxation
• Ensures that the company’s VAT including VAT on imported services are filed and paid on time
• Ensures that withholding taxes for all suppliers are filed and paid on time
• Ensures that quarterly corporate income taxes are filed and paid on time
• Monitors the tax checklist and ensures that all other taxes are paid on time ie CEPS, NPA, SSF, PAYE etc
• Reconciles and resolves differences on all tax accounts ensuring that what is paid agrees with SAP
• Account Review and Coding of Postings
• Ensures that all expenses are posted into the correct accounts
• Review all expenses accounts ensuring that the entries are keyed into appropriate accounts
• Review all class four accounts ensuring that all matchable accounts are matched and long outstanding balances are investigated and resolved
• Month End Closing Activities At each month closure the financial accountant performs the under-listed duties
• Prepare and post accruals for technical services
• Amortize prepaid expenses
• Write back deferred other income
• Match and review all recurring documents
• Liaise with the budgeting and reporting analyst to review all expense, comparing them to budget an investigate significant variances
• Undertake all other lawful and reasonable tasks assigned by the supervisor from time to time

Context and environment

Total operates throughout the length and breadth of the country. It is therefore important to ensure that cost and revenue are accurately captured, or provision made to ensure accurate determination of profit.

• It is also important to ensure changes in the Country’s tax laws are fully complied with

Candidate profile

• A good first degree from a recognized University preferably in Accounting
• Fully qualified member of any recognized Professional Accounting Body
• Must have very good communication and analytical skills
• Must be a good team player
• Knowledge of finance and accounting with a minimum of five years post qualification experience
• Excellent audit experience from a reputable organization is desirable
• Must demonstrate practical application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Accounting Standards (IAS) particularly in the preparation of financial statements
• Must demonstrate familiarity with the requirements of Ghana Stock Exchange ( GSE) and Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC)
• Excellent understanding of the local tax law
• Familiarity with the SAP accounting Module
